What is funny about the Crows rejecting the deal that also included pick swaps in the first and second round next year is Beatson and Co were basically daring Adelaide to have faith in their improvement next year and closing the gap between them and us.

Instead, they effectively told the little rat he's going to a club that thinks it'll be anchored to the bottom of the ladder for a while yet.

"Now Jordan, are you *sure* about this move?"
'Delicious' is a fun word to say

Eg. Free says let’s offer our fourth rounder for McDonald and let the swans send him to the PSD where we KNOW we get him for Zilch.

The way it is set up is that it relies on goodwill and that is not always there.

I largely agree with you, but perhaps the club sees such a high profile case as a means of publicising how unfair the system is to a club like the Swans.

I think you need to read the trade again. North are giving up Tarrant, pick 40, and a future 2nd round for CCJ, picks 42 & 47. Giving up a future 2nd which is likely to be pick 20 is quite a lot.

I assume Dawson is a restricted free agent, why can't the Swans just match Dawson's asking price? If cap space is the problem surely they can trade away a player for cap relief. A player of Dawson's calibre doesn't come along very often.

He’s not a few agent. He’s a contracted player until the end of the month, unless he’s traded he can enter the. ND or PSD.

Just confirming that JD is NOT a restricted free agent so we cannot match any bid and keep him unless he somehow gets to our pick in the PSD.

Two observations on the latest media reports on JD.

                1. Norf doing the Richmond deal now is potentially good news for us given there still remains a slight chance that Norf could take JD in the PSD. If the Richmond deal had not be done, then that Norf threat to Adelaide largely disappeared.
                2. I think we are now getting closer to a deal for JD. Adelaide rejected both options put to them today, but they may agree to swapping ONE of the two future picks to get it over the line - probably the second rounder.

Agree. Not a bad deal for the Tigers to be honest.

                    1. No chance, I say again, No chance.

                    2. Hopefully you're right, but Adelaide are seeming to be real smug @@@@s about it!

Haven't read today's thread, but my theory remains that we need an early first to deal Collingwood for Darcy Moore. The Barrass approach is the tell. We'll have cash without Dawson. It's the piece we need to finish top 4.

I noticed Kane Cornes floated the same thought this morning.

Wow! That is a godfather offer! Audacious. Good on them.

Not good news for us that the bustards were about to trade everything they had away.

I'm starting to come around to being wrong and instead of the view that they *are* bad faith actors.

This is relevant to the list management thread:

Is this the guy that got away? He was a Swans Academy prospect who was in Heeney’s intake. His final game of AFL was that reserves GF loss to Aspley in 2014. He narrowly missed being picked up in that draft

This play below is setting the NFL world alight. It happened on a Thursday night game where more than 14.1 million people tune in.

The AFL skills are remarkable. The recovery, the one handed pick up at pace and then the kick that got his team 68 yards. From where he picked the ball up it was a 80 yard turn around. Most American natives would have just dived on that ball.

He turned a disaster (blocked punt) into a miracle.

The famous coach Pete Carroll said that he’d never seen anything like it.

I wonder if the Swans had drafted him what we could have had. He obviously has great skills and knows what to do under the most extreme football pressure.

Yes, it could be argued that it was tactical as they knew Norf would not accept that offer. Perhaps they are hoping we will panic on hearing that and accept whatever they deem acceptable to get something for Dawson. Its certainly high stakes and suggests some falling out in negotiations.

What would that have meant for JD?

And how would he feel right now knowing Crows we’re prepared to put him through the PSD in their pursuit of JHF?

I’m going to keep my glass half full and say that this demonstrates the Crows preparedness to give up every one of their sacrosanct picks. And now Norf have said no, they can start handing them over to us!
