I think Ladhams could flourish into a good #1 ruckman, a bit of a Mumford type if we give him the chance. McLean IMO is really not the savour going forward as even a key forward. With the players we have on our list, I feel he should become depth, similar to Sinclair now. I would much prefer Amarty to become our future relief ruckman/forward behind Ladhams as our main ruck long term.

Hickey should get the opportunity to start next year but if Ladhams shows more then so be it. Big Tom will go the way of Sinkers and become good depth...

Yes Port are obviously shopping him but they are obviously confident in their other young ruck to perhaps be even better! We don't have that luxury! All we really have right now as a genuine ruck is Hickey, Sinclair, a sadly broken down Naismith (who could have been anything...) and McAndrew who on what limited vision I've seen looks extremely clumsy and lacking basic skills... not a lot there to be honest for a team pushing for a flag in the next few years.

I say have a crack at Ladhams, give him the opportunity he wants to lead the ruck division and hopefully it becomes another Mummy like success story!

I'd rather we save our cash and invest in a young ruckman eg Conway. Ruck division of Hickey, Sinclair, McLean, Amartey, McAndrew and Conway will be fine. With so many talented young guys requiring new contracts in the next few years, we are going to need every last dollar to keep them and imo, Ladhams is not worth 400k + a year. Clearly Port agree with me.

There is nothing to suggest a total breakdown in negotiations. The Swans would have been professional and clear in their discussions with Adelaide. They will have left no doubt about what will get the deal done for JD. The ball is now in Adelaide's court to meet our demands or a fair compromise as JD's management don't want to risk him walking him to the PSD. In the meantime, we should be doing our best to work on Port and, of course, any other possible deals.

Honestly, the player actually has to want to come. This isn’t fantasy footy.

Buddy wanted to come to us. Far as I can tell, Bud never wanted to got to GW$ (understandably). Lobb was from GW$.

I think Rory wants to coexist with Covid rather than hide under the doona in WA. Must be missing his end of season trips to Bali ????????
Speaking of Covid matters, will be interesting to see what will happen if McGowan continues his Covid zero approach whilst SA and the eastern states open up, even with high infection numbers. Might necessitate Freo and Weagles being based out of WA to get around ongoing restrictions at the WA border.
