It was reported yesterday, I think. I don't know whether this is old news, or we've made a lower offer and Port haven't budged? Allowing the first round pick swap and a future second rounder is a slight movement in our favour.
if we retain 31 and 39 this year, we may be able to bundle them together and get either 23 or 27Comment

Since the AFL created a system that doesn't favour the northern clubs.....and yes, losing Cola and getting a trading ban for 2 seasons didn't help either.
Why do people like to put the boots into our club when they are just doing their best with the cards they are dealt?Comment

They might as well ask for Heeney, Mills and Papley whilst they're at it. If we give them that, we will officially be the draft losers of the league.Ladhams update: Port have asked the Swans to give them Picks 12 in return for Ladhams and pick 16, plus either pick 31 this year or our future second rounder

Dont see why we need to Bend over for ladhams. Put the pick 31 up ( more than fair IMO ) and if they don’t want to dump his salary we can try again next year.

100% agree. We have to show the other clubs that we are not complete chumps at the negotiation table. If we give into Port over a fringe player who they want to get rid of, that we really don't even need (certainly not as much as a key position defender), then we will be a laughing stock.Comment

My thoughts exactly. Considering our resigning of Sinclair I don't understand why we would cave and even offer pick 31 when we can just wait till next year (pick 39 was fair IMO). If we bend over and offer them anything more I think its a reflection of poor trade negotation and our failing impact at the trade table since Buddy and COLA100% agree. Ralph, have confidence in KB and his team! Different ball game to Dawson, where the only card in our hand was our d@#k100% agree. Here's the link posted earlier by ugg, analysing the Dawson trade.

And no, it does not make for great reading.
I know these things happen but I am still quite gutted by this one. I guess I will have to find a way to move on.Comment

Agree. Ricciuto was just stating the obvious. Not questioning his knobness but I read it as him reporting what Port are asking for, not what they should be.
I'm not surprised if Port are asking for that. If they are and I were in charge of the Swans negotiating team, I'd just laugh, pack up and walk out of the door.
I do think our BATNA in this circumstance is stronger than theirs, and I think the trade of Aliir a year ago between the same two teams provides as close as you'll ever get to an equivalent trade guiding "fair" value.Comment

I think the heading "Adelaide rob the Swans of Dawson" says it all. ABC values him at pick 4, which funnily enough they had but wouldn't hand over. Hopefully someone at the Swans has a coffee with someone about this? Here's the link posted earlier by ugg, analysing the Dawson trade.

Here's a quote from that lying dog Justin Reid (AFL website):
“In good faith the pre-season draft was never something we discussed with Sydney. We were always keen to do a deal. It was never entertained.”
Everyone was saying it. And if we didn't come to an agreement, did that mean that Dawson would have stayed with the Swans?
As for Ladhams, I would make a final offer of pick 39, take it or leave it. I don't care if we don't get him. Let Port have him sulking all year on their list.Comment
