Actually it (Barry's sub analogy) is pretty good. His post season RWO form has been excellent. And I know how difficult things have been
for him lately living outside the 5KM range of ANZ. I'm okay with having two Sam Reid's in the team. Unfortunately they wear little resemblance
to each other so it'll be hard to sneak one into the team as a 23rd player which was my initial thought. Strangely my suggestion to Rocket
Eade in the mid 90s to play the singer-songwriter and the journalist Paul Kellys in the team (giving us three PK's all up) fell on deaf ears.
I never understood why.

But I'm not sure about the 'always be a Swan to me' bit. The only past players I have felt that about are Jetta and Hannebery. A large part of it was that they were Premiership players; another part was that I understood and felt sympathetic towards their reasons for leaving. Lewis, I don't begrudge at all. Hannebery was on us, and while it was perfectly rational on the club's part, again it's disappointing we weren't able to cheer for him for his entire career, as expected.

I add Craig Bird and Malceski to that list.

Wicks pressure acts alone warrants selection most weeks

I watched the highlights of our first game against Brisbane. Suggest you watch it too and see how little Wicks has contributed in the second half of the season. He played really well early on. His influence on the game towards the end left an awful lot to be desired- sorry, he was a passenger. Pressure? A kid from the ressies could have done the same. Maybe even you and me! Back to the 2’s as far as I’m concerned, he has a long way to go. If his agent thinks he can do better elsewhere, sayonara!

Couple of things here..
- Weightman plays more like Papley than Wicks. He's an attacking player, not defensively first. And he's a highlight reel
- Wicks is decisively focused first. Modern footy teams attack from the back half. Wicks is crucial in a defensively minded role
- I believe he has a high upside and will continue to develop. But I also believe if he didn't progress above what he produced this season and produced at the same level, he's still an important part of our structure and game plan

Personally, I'd take Wicks over Weightman every day of the week. I recommend rewatching our last match up with the dogs as a point of reference there.

Mate, you seem to love Wicks and that’s fine- you think he applies pressure. My thinking is that a forward needs to score or assist others in scoring. Defenders role is to prevent his opponent from doing this, and apart fro the early games, Wicks did very little as a forward. Forget the Weightman comparison- his game is similar to Bell and Ronke. Not in our best 22 at this stage, though with potential if he can improve his game and goal kicking.

With risk of derailing, you do realise the french subs we were meant to buy were in fact originally nuclear powered, and it was Australia that asked for plans (at great cost) to be developed to make them e diesel powered.... That deal is much more to do with grand posturing by 'Mr Announceable' and war mongering by Dutton then it does to any sort of strategic decision.

Definitely stick to the marriage example lol.

That's true ... except Carlton are incapable of developing any player.

I dont mind Wicks just wouldnt let him hold me to ransom.
Happy to have him but needs to get more of it and make the most of his opportunities, he was almost a hero more times than anyone in the team.

If your not getting much of it you need to make them count when you do
