Actually it (Barry's sub analogy) is pretty good. His post season RWO form has been excellent. And I know how difficult things have been
for him lately living outside the 5KM range of ANZ. I'm okay with having two Sam Reid's in the team. Unfortunately they wear little resemblance
to each other so it'll be hard to sneak one into the team as a 23rd player which was my initial thought. Strangely my suggestion to Rocket
Eade in the mid 90s to play the singer-songwriter and the journalist Paul Kellys in the team (giving us three PK's all up) fell on deaf ears.
    I never understood why.

But I'm not sure about the 'always be a Swan to me' bit. The only past players I have felt that about are Jetta and Hannebery. A large part of it was that they were Premiership players; another part was that I understood and felt sympathetic towards their reasons for leaving. Lewis, I don't begrudge at all. Hannebery was on us, and while it was perfectly rational on the club's part, again it's disappointing we weren't able to cheer for him for his entire career, as expected.
I add Craig Bird and Malceski to that list.

I watched the highlights of our first game against Brisbane. Suggest you watch it too and see how little Wicks has contributed in the second half of the season. He played really well early on. His influence on the game towards the end left an awful lot to be desired- sorry, he was a passenger. Pressure? A kid from the ressies could have done the same. Maybe even you and me! Back to the 2’s as far as I’m concerned, he has a long way to go. If his agent thinks he can do better elsewhere, sayonara!

          - Wicks is decisively focused first. Modern footy teams attack from the back half. Wicks is crucial in a defensively minded role
          - I believe he has a high upside and will continue to develop. But I also believe if he didn't progress above what he produced this season and produced at the same level, he's still an important part of our structure and game plan

Personally, I'd take Wicks over Weightman every day of the week. I recommend rewatching our last match up with the dogs as a point of reference there.
Mate, you seem to love Wicks and that’s fine- you think he applies pressure. My thinking is that a forward needs to score or assist others in scoring. Defenders role is to prevent his opponent from doing this, and apart fro the early games, Wicks did very little as a forward. Forget the Weightman comparison- his game is similar to Bell and Ronke. Not in our best 22 at this stage, though with potential if he can improve his game and goal kicking.

Definitely stick to the marriage example lol.

So Trade Radio has started today!

It is the most boring talkfest by mostly irrelevant has beens who dream up trades that won't happen and completely misunderstand trading rules, it's an embarrassment of a show almost bereft of any worthwhile analysis and news even during trade period let alone two weeks out.

First cab off the rank, SOS potting his old club's recruiting, well what a surprise

The only good part of Trade Radio is the obvious prank call where some doofus goes on and says something like: "Yeah, so, I follow Hawthorn and heard we're into Nat Fyfe. Do you think Tim O'Brien and a second round back from them will get it done?"

And then the clowns on trade radio spend the next five minutes analysing it.
'Delicious' is a fun word to say

I read SOS’s comments on Hewitt.

I remember at a cricket seminar being advised as a parent to never publicly or privately criticise another teammate of your sons.

I guess SOS didn’t get the memo. Would make it difficult for Jack.

I think a lot of posters may be skipping on their reading a bit - the exact same arguements and rebuttals crop up every 10 pages or so in this thread. Reading the whole thing makes me feel like Bill Murray waking up every morning in "Groundhog Day"

I stuffed up posting this before, but SOS questioned Carlton's (alleged) pursuit of George.

Stephen Silvagni questions Carlton's likely recruitment of Sydney free agent

“Is he the type of the player that Carlton needs? ... I think he’s a good player and may be in their best 23, but I think he’s the type of player that you can develop on your list."

Note to SOS - they would if, whilst you were there, you'd recruited more and better mids!

That's true ... except Carlton are incapable of developing any player.

From Dan Cherny in The Age (where the reporting is accountable): "Sources familiar with the situation suggest Sydney are preparing to make life difficult for Jordan Dawson as he seeks a move to Adelaide."

AFL trades 2021: Geelong Cats’ Darcy Fort on Brisbane Lions’ radar.

I dont mind Wicks just wouldnt let him hold me to ransom.
Happy to have him but needs to get more of it and make the most of his opportunities, he was almost a hero more times than anyone in the team.

If your not getting much of it you need to make them count when you do

He would have given up more stupid free kicks than anyone too

I wish Cherry’s been more pacific. But I do get the sense that the club feels JD shafted them.
