I've been on about Mabior Chol for a couple of year it seems. Jon Ralph now reports that 5 clubs are after him. I hope we are one of the 5. I wonder if we could convince him he has a spot in our side, at least after the end of Buddy's contract and how having Buddy on our list, even at 35 yo, could be a deterrent to someone looking fort a permanent spot with us.

It's not surprising that he's come on the radar of a number of clubs, even though he hasn't quite shown that he's up to an AFL standard at a top club. There's still work to do to get him up to the level required.

Unless Amartey comes through, we don't have a good forward/2nd ruck in the McDonald era. We might have to go to the draft for one if we can't get Chol and Amartey disappoints. Hopefully Reid can hang in there without too many injuries until we can find a solution.
Already naming an era before it's happened? Big call and I hope it proves correct but let's get a few games under his belt.

Brayden Crossley from the Southport Sharks might be worth a look. Can ruck, play forward and is a big, solid unit. He would hopefully be busting his chops to prove himself after blowing his first go through drugs at the Sun's.

The mid-season draft is almost with us. I wonder who we will take? Does the order reflect last season's ladder or this year's?

This years. I have no idea who. Wonder if we’ll punt on Paddy?

It's strange how none of the midseason draft previews mention Paddy McCartin. Going by the VFL games that he played before the incident, my worry was that he would be taken before we had a pick. But the few experts who wrote those previews, don't seem to be considering him. Not sure why? I don't really think that one striking charge makes him undraftable. And I doubt if football journalists, would have the neurological skills, to determine whether that out of character lashing out, was a sign of chronic traumatic encephalopathy?

Where would we play Paddy McCartin ?

Would we have a 2x McCartin defensive pillars, allowing Rampe to play on 3rd target. But who goes out of our back six, and will it make us less mobile?

I dont think Paddy can be a forward.

Two Macs up forward and two down back?

Rampe is the wrong side of 30.

                  True but
                  a) Rampe's only got 177 senior games on the clock ,and
                  b) Buddy's 4 years older, and many still expect him to perform agelessly.

He can play at either end. That's what makes him an attractive choice in the draft. He may not be worth the #1 pick he went for, but he is a legitimate AFL player and would still be playing AFL if not for the concussions. I don't see that we have much to lose by drafting him.

Will he last until our pick at 12-13?

There hasn't been any talk about Paddy. I don't know if we can take that at face value, in that no one is interested. We know the Swans are interested, since we added him to our VFL list and he's been connected to the Swans since last year. We can't expect any news coming from Swans' HQ. It's just not the way we operate.

Unless KB has someone hidden away that hasn't come on the radar, I think we should take Paddy.

The experts and draft "gurus" such as Cal Twomey seem to think we are the only club interested in him. We clearly are interested in him or else why bother. I don't understand what would happen if we don't take him in the Mid Season Draft? Can we get him onto our list without drafting him in either the National Draft or Rookie Draft later in the year?

I sincerely doubt that any others are too interested. His recent misdemeanour combined with the concussion issue would put Clubs off of him. I'm not 100% convinced that we will go for him either but I hope we do.

                              Agree with all of that.

No need for dog act behaviour at this club

Paddy can pack his bags and go home , Richmond or Hawthorn will be into those sorts of antics !
