Still doesn't make sense. Again, you say he was doing rehab. He was doing what he was supposed to do - nothing more! And why did there have to be someone else doing rehab with him? Maybe everyone else had done their assigned training tasks. What did you want to see? Every other player in the club standing nearby and cheering him on? If this happened 40 minutes before a game, perhaps the other players were in the clubrooms soaking up the atmosphere. Or had just finished a reserves game. Not at all. It was 40 minutes before the senior teams opening bounce. There are many young ladies coming into the administrative area to watch the game in corporate boxes.
Jordan was ignoring all this distraction while focusing on his rehab. No body else was in there doing the rehab with him. His mates were most probably entertaining these groupies and not doing the extra work.
Where are Dawsons 2018 reserves mates now? Probably assistant coaches at Sydney Uni while he’s bordering on AFL superstardom.
I want Jordan back.
Come on Swans. Hold your nerve and give Jordan the option of joining North Melbourne in the preseason draft or signing with us.
And calling the young ladies in the administrative area "groupies" is highly offensive. 'Comment

Apologies for using the term groupies.Still doesn't make sense. Again, you say he was doing rehab. He was doing what he was supposed to do - nothing more! Dawson from what I witnessed seemed like a very committed young man to his work.
I want him back at the Swans and I think we role the dice in the Preseason draft.Comment

Different circumstances. Paps was still contracted. Dawson is not. It would take a miracle for him to be at the Swans next year. If someone can inform me of the last time an uncontracted player remained at a club after requesting a trade I’d be impressed.Comment

I can't say it was the last time, but the ROK situation is the obvious one that springs to mind. Things were a little different back then, though. There was no free agency, and thus no expectation that players could pretty much pick whatever club they fancied playing for (even before becoming free agents).Comment

Dawson wants out, well the only thing worse that can happy to the swans is he walks for nothing. He wants out, fair enough, but we need to get something of value to US back.
Is it marshall? Is it talia?, it is somebody else. Lets hope the swans have a plan. God I hope they do....

Thanks Liz. Yes, I should’ve realised that but I forgot that ROK was out of contract. It does feel like that was a lifetime ago in a different era. It probably helped at the time that he wanted to go to the Hawks who were the reigning premiers and so they thought of the PSD was probably terrifying. Maybe we hope that he nominated Port for a similar reason.I can't say it was the last time, but the ROK situation is the obvious one that springs to mind. Jordan Dawson does not want to play for swans …. that’s that. Let’s move on. Get the best deal we can get. Sounds like Port would not have the draft hand for that to happen. It may be a bad thing for us as there are only two teams there and if both had good draft hand they may have fought over his services. Port will go for an inside mid and may not want Dawson.
We should not roll over but the other thing we should do is to get Stephens to stay and prioritise him as an outside mid. Hewett should be a priority too now.
Is Tom Lynch someone we should look at given we are still in the window to compete for the flag next year? And given Don Pyke has worked with him and could get him to play ala Dawson? I would not give him a long contract though max 2 years?Comment

Look at our list coming out of contract next year do we just roll over and take unders ? . Make a stand if we don’t get adequate compensation and send him to the pre season draft especially if he nominates Port . Might make a few next year take notice

When Franklin and Kennedy retire, that will free up some cap space.
It's been hard to get free agents to come to Sydney since the AFL hit the Swans with that ridiculous trade ban despite the club breaking no rules. Meanwhile Geelong gets many players from other clubs, and not a trade ban in sight for them. It is far from a level playing field."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

I personally would prefer Jordan nominates Port Adelaide. Adelaide definitely have the stronger draft hand at the moment but we would have much greater negotiating power with Port. If they really want Jordan, they will have to come to the party by either involving other clubs or other players. I can’t see them hoping Jordan can get all the way to them through the PSD.
On the other hand, if he nominates Adelaide, they are unlikely to give up pick 4 and they have no real players that meet our needs. Adelaide have also shown last year that they are willing to let players walk through the PSD and pick them up that way.
I’m probably (definitely) biased but I really think Dawson is worth a top 10 pick and I think we are more likely to get closer to that value with Port by them using pick 16 and a player or future pick.Comment
