Reported on adelaide tv that Dawson met with Cows yesterday, Port today. He will make his decision over the weekend, unfortunately media suggesting Cows in the box seat for his signature.

Best Cows will do is pick 23 (25) and next years second, probably in a similar range.

If we could resign Dawson for 700k a year as alleged, and Hewett was on 400-500k a year and Reid 500k a year, we may have a lot of kitty in the bank to play with.

Sure a lot of this may be reserved for our young guns, it's still nice to day dream that we could make a big play this year or next.

I reckon we can eek a bit more out of this hopefully. 2 x 2nd rounders wouldn't be the worst outcome - on a points basis anyway.

If you believe the noise re the draft this may not be a bad thing. Saying picks 10-50 are a bit a lottery due to Covid’s impact

Wouldn't suprise me if we look for 2022 draft currency more than 2021 currency at the negotiating table. Will be interesting to see our strategy.

Wouldn’t be surprised at all to see pick 12 swapped out to a club with an immediate need for youth. West Coast or Hawthorn come to mind

In return for what? Mitchell, Nick Nat?

You are being quite generous to Reid. He is 30 soon, has only played 20 games over the last two seasons, is averaging less than 10 touches
in that time and his body is a bit broken.

I must admit I do think something is brewing

Not Buddy trade level but we are in a window right now. We have Bud, Kennedy with us in 2022

We have a few options up our sleeve re trading in or out.

We have a great core squad but another clinical tall in defence would allow us great depth if a key defender went down.

Melb recruited so well with Lever and May. What a difference these guys have made to their back line set up and snuffing the oxygen out of the opposition offence.

Hmmmmm. Let's pull the trigger and give ourselves the best chance of GF success in 2022

I don't mind the idea Auntie. Who do you think is "gettable"?

During the season, as far as I know, they were all on the rookie list. I haven't seen any indication, if the new contracts for McLean and Fox shift them to the main list. Assuming that Wicks gets a new contract, I think he's due for promotion.

I don't like losing best 22 players but the positive out of that is it gives others an opportunity to accelerate their development. Hewett leaving will give more minutes to Warner and Rowbotton, who both potentially have higher ceilings than George. Dawson going frees up a wing for Stephens and Campbell, both extremely talented players who could be elite. The end result may be better than if they had stayed.
