SEN alleging JD has chosen the Crows.

Not really very strong evidence of anything at all at this point in time - given he met with the crows first, prior to meeting with port
They may well win the race, but that is nothing but pretty idle speculation based on not very much at this point in time."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

I don't see how he has a major say in where he goes. He's chosen Adelaide, and it's up to the Swans to get the best deal out of the two clubs there. If Adelaide can't get a good enough offer, then it's Port. Or he can risk the draft and end up in the Gold Coast.Comment

I was hoping it would be Port, just because pick 16 would be a realistic trade. I think Dawson is worth a 1st and 2nd round pick, but Port don't have a 2nd rounder.
Adelaide are very unlikely to part with pick 4, but they do have pick 23 & pick 37. Those two picks should be enough to get the Bulldog's pick 17, but i'd prefer to take the 23 and their 2022 2nd round pick.Comment

There was an article on SEN The five players former recruiter thinks Power should consider trading
Which listed Darcy Byrne-Jones, Dan Houston, Kane Farrell, Todd Marshall and Sam Hayes as players Port should look to offload. I wonder if there will be a player involved as well as picks if he goes to Port.Comment

I dont mind Todd Marshall. If they get Findlayson, Marshall will be surplus to requirements, and he's only 22.

Post Buddy, I think we should make the grand father offer to Aaron Naugton (bulldogs). He's very young and the most dominant forward in the comp by a long way.
He could bring back the 100 goal full forward from extinction.Comment

Two relative cheapies: I thought Cooper Sharman was very impressive against us the other week ... and Jake Riccardi started extremely well. Not as Buddy replacements but as 2nd or 3rd talls.Comment

I can't see the Saints letting Sharman go. He's been a revelation. And with Finlayson looking to leave the Giants, Ricdardi is not likely to be on the move.
I don't think we should be in the player market this year, but rather get the TPP in order and get ready to have a go at the meat market next year.
I would like to see us take Paddy McCartin and take a couple of KPPs in the draft.
It's easy to get into trouble over-committing before the time is right. Next year, we should have a stronger hand.
I don't think we're in a good position to demand anything in a trade with the Crows. I would be satisfied with the Crows' 2nd round picks from this year and next. 23 and 37 seems low.Comment

As for now, I think we should be going into next season backing Logan becoming a dominant forward. With McLean and Amartey both showing promise, there's no need to jump for another tall forward just yet. We get at least another year of Buddy to help with development. We also have Gould and O'Connor in early development, so there's another 2 who fill some roles next year if they come along.

However, I but don't think having one more KPF would be a bad thing... If we lose Reid and Sinkers wouldn't mind two replacements, one genuine ruck and one KPF.
Riccardi is out of contract and could therefore be prised from GW$ relatively cheaply...
I also read somewhere today that WCE may be pushing Brander out because of their own salary cap problems.
As this is not a sellers year, we may be able to get a real bargain
I'd say Carlton getting Hewett for nothing is a bargain, although I just had the thought. We don't need to talk to him about a new contract, we just have to match whatever Carlton offer ...Last edited by Markwebbos; 20 September 2021, 02:15 PM.Comment
