Agree. From the little I have seen Ladhams doesn't impress as a ruckman and we enough second ruck forwards. I thought English at least broke even in the ruck against Ladhams in the p/f which isn't a great sign imo.

Maybe Ladhams - Finlayson direct swap. If so would Briggs or Flynn from Giants be of any interest to us.

Hope we get a second round compensation pick for Hewett.

Reports Hewitt signed with Carlton for 5 year deal at $450k a year. Swans won’t match.

And we get nothing for him because we didn't offer a contract?

We still get something - likely after current second pick or end of second round.

Have to say, I like George, and reckon he's worth close to $450 a year, but a four-year deal, wouldn't match. And if the Swans deliberately constructed his contract to make him an RFA in his final year as insurance to get a pick in return, good move.

I think its a 4-year not a 5-year deal for George! But still very generous although the money per season is not huge. I'm sure he will give them good service. He has been good for our Club and I wish him well for the future. Hopefully, a second round pick comes to us in return which is pretty fair in my view.

Also agree , Ladhams is average from the games I have watched . Hope we stay well clear

Does anyone know what the compensation pick will be for the Hewett deal? I know it is worked out by the contract offer and length of deal etc so I'm sure there's some sort of formula???

Good luck to George. Honest as the day is long and gave his all in every game.

I don't know the exact formula or if there is one but main criteria is 1. new contract of the f/a - length and salary and
                              2. age of the f/a

If you both gain and lose a free agent then they AFL looks at net loss or gain when allocating compensation.

Compensation picks allocated either after the clubs first or second round pick or at end of first, second or third rounds.

Suspicion is that the AFL uses a bit of personal preference/bias when allocating compensation.

Don't know if that helps but that is all I know.

Letting Hewitt go is a huge mistake. With Dawson gone offer him $500000x5. This will come back to bite us when Kennedy retires and Parker starts to slow down.

On Dawson I’d be sending him and our first rounder for Adelaides 1st pick. We are Getting ripped off and I hope Sydney’s mentality is to still keep both regardless of what is reported.

Key defender is a must this trade and hopefully P Mcartin comes out fully fit like never before and he came go back to playing key forward. That’s if we pick him up which we should.
