Port have basically pushed this guy out the door, they can't then expect for us to get the double entry from the Adeliade clubs this trade week.
We decide if we play ball here. I'd be prefectly happy to roll the dice without Ladhams and bank the $400,000 cap space but I get why he may be a good pick up AT THE RIGHT PRICE.
Surely this is Pick 39 take it or leave it!
There would be some criticism if the Ladham deal is particularly disadvantageous - but there would also be some that would laud the deal, and start questioning others loyalty to the club.
    It's a funny old forum.

Thanks for posting the ABC article re the Dawson trade Ugg and neilfws.

“After a week largely filled with win-win deals, one club has apparently stopped playing nice.”

It’s good to see someone in the media say this. Still burns though ....

I think Ladhams is probably worth a pick in the mid to late twenties. The bit I'm uncomfortable about is the slide from pick 12 to pick 16. That's overs... 48 minutes to go

And I. We'll be is serious need of a mature ruck for 2023, 2022 much less so.

The Crows played nasty last year too, over Jackson Hately. I don't know if the AFL gives a **** though.

I have real concerns that the Ladhams deal won't get done (unless we completely cave to their demands) as Port seem to be doing an Adelaide and are bullying us at the negotiation table! This one really frustrates me considering what we gave them Aliir for last year who turned into an All Australian.

What is going on with our recruitment team? They are getting shown a hell of a lot of disrespect this year by other clubs!

The most disappointing aspect of all of this is Dawson playing the game of letting Sydney think he would sign on the dotted line. If he had been honest he might or might not have played but my respect for him have increased dramatically and the club would be given ample time to prepare.

I suspect he would have continued to pay as he was good enough to earn a spot.

There is rightly alot of criticism of the rugby league merry go round but they are better at one thing, accepting that a player will move but still playing them if they are good enough.

One can only hope the Karma bus will hit Adelaide in the coming years.

I really believe that it's become a lot more cut-throat than it used to be, and we are one of the old school clubs...

They normally say its avout the whole package of deals and not one in isolation for the trade period.

If that is the case, anything above 31 for Ladhams and we got rolled

Everyone was saying it. And if we didn't come to an agreement, did that mean that Dawson would have stayed with the Swans?

As for Ladhams, I would make a final offer of pick 39, take it or leave it. I don't care if we don't get him. Let Port have him sulking all year on their list.
Yes, and I suppose that Adelaide totally forgot that they picked up Hately in the PSD, after not doing a trade with the Giants. As I've said in the past, we really are living in a golden age of bull@@@@.

Then it doesn't get done. Who is worse off? We are if Hickey suffers a season ending injury, but otherwise the impact on our season is marginal, and we save $400k in cap space (less whatever we pay to the player who takes his spot on the list. That may be Reid. Port have to bear that $400k, plus have a player on their list they told wasn't wanted.

It's a completely different situation to the Dawson trade where there was only one winner if no trade happened.

32 minutes to go... Maybe we will walk away from the deal?

I just don't think we have been in a strong bargaining position in recent years due to players being out of contract and our well-publicised salary cap situation.

I think in the absence of a flag, Ports behaviour this year and last shows them to be extremely determined to win the trade period - like Dodo and the Injectors

Can I point out the deals we successfully avoided doing in the last couple of years, in particular Papley and Daniher
