Even with the benefi of hindsight, how many better options were there than Towers?

Actually, and this isn’t to talk up Towers, not many.

The 2012 draft was generally a stinker even at the top end: 2012 AFL draft - Wikipedia

The only two players picked after him, who weren’t father-sons or rookie elevations, who’ve had substantially better careers were McIntosh and …. Tim Membrey.

One wrong decision here or there isnt too bad but when its year in in year out its a problem .

The way they are going Florent and Rowbottom will be out , if the expectation that a pick in the first 2 rounds will be good enough to be in the team for a decade is unrealistic then whats realistic ? We didnt draft these players to be VFL captains ! And what about the ones who left ? Money grub Mitchell , homesick Jetta and Jones .. did we do our research on them to find out what sort of blokes they were ?
Florent and Rowbottom are going nowhere except to a premiership in the Red and White. You're deluded in your hate of these boys.

Here is a list of each clubs draft needs, according to SEN: What your club must target in the 2021 National Draft. Swans needs are given as a similar player to Dawson, an inside midfielder, and depth in the backline. Mentions recruiting Paddy McCartin in the PSD.
Fairly sensible. We will upgrade Rookies with 70 & 88. The other 3 we take.

If Heeney, Mills, Blakey, Capmbell., Gulden were not easy picks due to constant observation would we look like Numpties re recruitment last 12 years or so ?

            Honestly we are thin !

              You forgot Mcdonald.

Stephens and Warner have been more than OK. Gould could still make it. Elijah Taylor was unfortunate but we took the risk. He was truly a top line talent.

Blakey, Rowie and McInnerney have been pretty good. Hayden McLean is sort of OK lol.

Tom McCartin and Joel are turning out OK.

Florent, Hayward and Fox are pretty damned good.

Dawson, Mills, Papley and O'Riordan are OK. Except losing Dawson of course just when he was looking like Barry bloody Robran.

Heens and Melican were more than OK. Newman good. Newman good, except not for us but for Carlton. I thought he did pretty well for us too before we delisted him.

Jones, Hewee, Nanka, Aliir all good. Jones, Aliir and Nanka just for other sides lol. Now Hewee as well.

Towers (best of the top 25 we could get at pick 22), Marsh was serviceable, Membrey was always going to be good. A pity it was for Saints not us. Harry, Tippett, Lloyd is a gun. X Richards was over impressed by himself, Rampe has been sensational. Robbo put in a few good ones. Sam Naismith is unfortunate.

We have actually had quite a few good players we have let go over the years either to accommodate Bud's contract or because some others we on overs.

While you could add Crayfish to that list, I'm confident that Fox and the Lizard will work out.

TB, sir James was ranked in the best ten players from his draft. Last week by the Herald Sun. Above Blakey and JMac.

To be fair I wouldn’t put any money into Ruperts pocket either so I am with you there.
But some may feel you simply don’t want to know about anything that is at odds with your anti James campaign.

Corey Warner and Sydney. Could another Warner end up on Sydney's list?
