Buddy will be managed next year. Obviously he’s not what he used to be so midfielders etc need to pass to our other forwards- but of course they will need to make leads and prevent just bombing the ball. I think Buddy is still value as he will take the #1 or #2 defender in the games he plays. If the passion is still there I think he has made the right decision. Plus he will help with the development of our young, inexperienced tall forwards.

Reid signed for another year according to Mitch Cleary.
Sam Reid has committed to a new deal to stay at SydneyComment

If both Reid and Franklin have signed for another year, I wonder if that increases the chances of Amartey or McLean seeking a trade, to search for more opportunities? I think both are decent AFL level players, who would probably already be playing regularly in a few lesser sides; but I doubt if either will become a star of the competition. So, it might be mutually beneficial, if we traded one for a pick upgrade, which we could use to draft a KPF with potentially more upside.Comment

Very comfortable with Reid staying around for another year. His best this year was very good - and arguably his injury may have been the thing that sent our season off the rails at the end. Without his injury, I think we would have beaten Collingwood very comfortably - it was a 'sliding doors' moment in that game.
Not sure a fully fit Reid would have made much difference on Saturday, and no point playing 'what if' games, but I do think we were clearly rattled by the end of that Collingwood game (both physically and mentally), and with the benefit of hindsight it feels like it left a relatively young team vulnerable to putting in a stinker.Last edited by mcs; 26 September 2022, 10:14 AM."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

And I too hope Buddy is managed, but your certainty on this matter is based on bugger all. It was what the better thinkers on here were hoping for this year, and some were hoping for it last year. It's a good thing hope springs eternal because so far those hopes have been in vain. LOLLast edited by Ruck'n'Roll; 26 September 2022, 01:42 PM.Comment

Nonsense, if a team sends their #1 or #2 defender to Buddy, they are wasting their resources. Melbourne did that and we won well. Neither Collingwood nor the Cat's did and we didn't win well.

On balance I'm happy he's playing on, especially after Saturday. I'd have hated that to be the way his career ended. I'm open minded about what to expect. He did still kick over 50 goals this year, but clearly he needs to play a role next year that supports the development of McDonald and others.Comment

Logue's agent mentions he had a "chat" with the Swans, but ultimately Logue decided to go to Melbourne due to the "postcode" and "a chat with Clarko"
How a Clarkson Zoom call got Logue “over the line” for North MelbourneComment

How a Clarkson Zoom call got Logue “over the line” for North Melbourne
Logue: "it was more about the postcode"
Cameron: "I spent 10 years up in Sydney, a place that I'd never thought I'd spend two years" (admittedly they could point out "but he spent 10!")
Hopper: always wanted to play for a big Melbourne club
Bruhn: just show the clip of him being picked by GWS, then requesting a trade as soon as his rookie trade is up.
I appreciate they may respond that in the case of GWS' off season woes they made their own bed with paying overs to keep interstate players, which I guess could immediately be responded with "yeah, it's like you have to pay over to keep interstate players?".I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Are you as confident as Road Runner that he will play a role, I'm fearful that the old dogs new tricks analogy may apply. And even if he does how are the oaches to stop the mids kicking get-out-of-jail-free-balls to him?Comment

There's a bit of fodder popping up this off season that proponents of COLA can have up their sleeve when knocking on the door of AFL House;
Logue: "it was more about the postcode"
Cameron: "I spent 10 years up in Sydney, a place that I'd never thought I'd spend two years" (admittedly they could point out "but he spent 10!")
