How a Clarkson Zoom call got Logue “over the line” for North Melbourne
Was that chat before or after the Hawthorn/Clarkson racism scandal became public?

Too expensive and too risky for me.

I think we need a bit more size and strength. We struggled to lay tackles or break tackles. Look at the Geelong players and they appear to be a lot bigger and stronger. So if we can pick up a few bigger bodied inside mids (as per Josh Kennedy) it would help.

Agree. A few more years in the weight room for our young players wouldn't hurt either.

No. Don't want his type of influence in the dressing room, despite his obvious quality on the field (at times).

I'd be happy if we keep our trade powder relatively dry this year. Use our 2x first rounders to take 2 quality players in the draft, then see where we are post-next season, when we could (maybe) target a big name key forward to replace Buddy (or maybe not depending on how our Salary Cap is chugging along) to put some 'icing' on the list going forward.

A nonsense article in that all it does is state the bleeding obvious (as you’ve pretty much stated.

I’m pretty happy he’s gonna go around again. Selfishly, I still just love watching him play. A once in a century talent & we don’t have a clear Replacement lining up just yet.

The other disappointing thing about that article is that it drew my attention to the Sam Newman story. I’ve been avoiding all the usual suspects coming out with their unwelcome opinions - but I read on. What a dick.

Is everyones best guess that half of Buds contract for 2023 sits in the TPPs?

Therefore we are talking max $300k in the Sal Cap as the we know it?

Bud got 52 goals in 2022 at 35yrs of age.

My hunch is that Bud will get 35 plus in 2023.

He will still be a significant player at peanuts $ to get us in the top8 in 2023 in my humble opinion. Bud will Drag key defenders away for McDonal, Issaac, Hayward, Paps etc to have impact !

Issac had 49 goals in 2022 but only 3 of those in our 3 finals games.

Why doesnt Issac come under some serious scrutiny in the finals series of games in 2022?

I think Isaac has. The media has certainly been into him.

Good luck at Norf Griff, unsure who your coach will be now!

Reckon this could be a very interesting trade period, so many deals that look to be difficult to get done.

At least we won't have Dodoro grand standing and holding up the whole show because no player will be requesting to go to Essendon!

Absolutely, him and Chad in the centre would be something to behold

Apparently we were in to him a few years ago before he really broke through

We need a big bodied bull midfielder that has leg speed I have said it all year . Worth the risk in my opinion and he is the best available.

If we go to the draft I seriously hope we target some height. A tall defender/forward plus a tall midfielder from our two first rounders

I'd like to see us try and get another 2nd round pick from somewhere (if we are willing to take 4 top picks in the draft - not sure on list numbers etc that might mean we only want 3) and really go hard in the draft this year, with a focus on filling keys gaps. We only need 1 or 2 of them to be ready for seniors footy relatively quickly (say by 2024) and we will soon be in a really strong position, with just a couple of spots to try and fill potentially through the trade table. I'd prefer a focus on getting a big defender to take the monster forwards - I think we are a better chance of getting a quality forward through trade then a quality defender in their prime. Gould may be the answer but he may not be.

Re: Heeney. I do wonder if he was anywhere near 100% fit. But, with a more general eye - he should be coming into the prime of his career, and he still remains at times quite inconsistent. He had a very good year overall this year, but it was frustrating he had so little influence at the tail end, when we needed him to stand up. Still feel like we are awaiting him to fully 'arrive' and fulfil his potential. That isn't to say he is not having a seriously good career. But I just think he hasn't quite reached the levels we hoped to this point.

Inclined to agree. After getting his nose broken in the first few minutes of the final against Melbourne he was a shadow of himself. Wonder if he may also have a broken maxilla or other significant injury from that incident. He was pretty much a by-stander in our three finals, which I’m sure frustrates him more than anyone.
