If we keep buddy next year, he'll be on $200-$300k. We've paid him very generously for 9 years. He can repay that in kind with a lesser contract, if he wants to keep playing. He won't have anywhere else to go.

I think he will want a lot more than that to continue playing. Half a million might work for both parties.Comment

It's increasingly looking like 2019 draft will be a bust for us. Dylan looks at best a steady player, unlikely to live up to pick 5 status. I'm starting to doubt that Gould will ever play senior footy. Elijah Taylor is still falling foul of the law. Leaves Chad. I guess if he ends up being as good as some think he will, then that will make up for the other 3.Comment

Don’t know if the picks beyond the first 3 are a serious indicator of AFL longevity. Logically top 10 ought to be a solid indicator but there have been plenty of disappointments here and conversely some great players have emerged from the middle of the draft and beyond. It is a natural expectation that a top 5 pick ought to be pretty special. In the case of Dylan, he needs lots more time to develop as in his first 2 years he was physically not up to it. He is now more confident and I expect a steady improvement as the season wears on. Don’t know about Gould as haven’t seen him play in the twos. Forget Elijah. Then we have Chad, who will be a star. So all in all, not too shabby! It's increasingly looking like 2019 draft will be a bust for us. Dylan looks at best a steady player, unlikely to live up to pick 5 status. Will probably pay Bud over 2 or 3 years to soften on the cap me thinks"be tough, only when it gets tough"

If he remains injury free, don’t see why not. He is still a major contributor but I would like to see another key forward emerge to give us more aerial power. Hopefully that will be Logan. Amartey has a great leap but maybe not a consistently high mark, though would like to try him at FF a few times. McLean can be good but can’t see him dominate a game. Isaac is needed everywhere so who else do we have?Comment

Looking forward to an announcement soon on McInerney recommitting. I believe he is very happy there based on recent comments.
I think the biggest flight risk might be free agent, Lloyd, looking to cash in. Time will tell.
I see Moore has just signed a 6-year deal with the Carringbush. We were linked to him in the past. I can see why they did it but he does have an injury history. Between him and Grundy that's two very long, hefty contracts to include in your salary cap going forward. Still I'm sure that "marketing contracts" with Collingwood benefactors will help soften the Cap impact.Comment

Thank god we never got sucked into chasing him that hard. A terrific player, but a shocking injury history.Looking forward to an announcement soon on McInerney recommitting. I believe he is very happy there based on recent comments.

We were just the stalking horse used by his manager to get the Pies to up their offer, he was never leaving Pies or Melbourne.
So this year we have Dees first rounder, looking like pick 19, plus our own first and second rounders. Haven't had much of a vibe yet about this years draft make up and quality.
Mid Season Draft will be interesting, it's on ladder positions after R12 so pre season Top 8 fancies Port and Essendon are positioning themselves for an early pick :-)
Got a few retirees and delistings to be done but overall the list is in a good place I reckon.Comment
