Excellent article by Jake Niall, one of the very best in the AFL media, I listen to him on the ABC when I remember to tune in, always sees things clearly and makes sense.Jake Niall has harsh but probably fair things to say about Buddy (and Dusty)
If he couldn’t play in the preliminary final or grand final, I doubt it would impact enormously on the Swans’ prospects … the Swans have no need to scramble desperately to keep him.

Buddy should be happy with whatever the Swans offer him, especially if it is around $600k. As much as we all love him, and he puts bums on seats, he is not the player of a couple of years ago, and understandably so. He played every game this year ( I think) but he did miss a whole season so his body is a risk and he may only be able to play reduced games in 2023. So the money seems pretty fair. Irrespective of how our team goes from here on, we are clearly at an exciting stage with our youngsters and I can’t imagine why he or anyone else would want to play elsewhere.
I’m confident that if Buddy decides to play on, it will be with us!Comment

I reckon he’s going either into retirement or to QLD. And I’m sure we’ve been planning for it for quite a whileComment

Buddy has been a valuable addition for the Swans but if he can't play to the entertaining standard that he has in the past, I think his ability to put bums on seats will evaporate. $600k is probably too much in my opinion. I get the feeling that next year would be one year too many. It would be perfect if he can go out with a premiership this year. It would be a shame to see him go to another club for money, It would tarnish his legacy in my mind.Buddy should be happy with whatever the Swans offer him, especially if it is around $600k.
