Thei question is 'can they play good footy at AFL level?'....if not, they are unfortunately a list clogger.....but the truth is and you're right, there is not enough elite talent to go around 18 clubs so some clubs, mainly the bottom ones, are going to have a lot of players that fit this description on their lists. The harsh truth of this is that the powerful Victorian clubs will inevitably end up with most of the elite talent, the way free agency is structured these days.

GWS went after pick 1 because they want Cadman, badly. No way.
North have picks 2 and 3. They're likely recruiting a pair of players who will both stay together. No.
Essendon will want to hold on to pick 4. Picks 14 and 17 would not be enough for them. I expect they will take it to the draft and take the best available player. They'll bid on Ashcroft if he's not gone earlier.
Gold Coast have pick 5 and will not want to trade that either. They gave away pick 7 for nothing. Multiple lower picks are worthless to them.
Hawthorn has pick 6. They may be more likely to consider a trade, but who knows.
Geelong hold pick 7. No chance of even being heard over their loud salivating noises.
West Coast traded for pick 8 for a reason, to draft a WA local. Nope.
St Kilda at 9 is possible; 9 and 28 for 14 and 17 is balanced on points. But would we make this trade to move up only five places in the first round?
Carlton at 10 is worse, they have 10 and 29. I doubt it. Not worth it.
So the club most likely to trade top 10 picks with us may be Hawthorn, but it won't be a straight swap. Hawthorn have several lower picks (24, 41, 48, 50, 52, 65) and they may consider offering lower picks to balance the trade. They may be interested in getting pick 42 from us as well. So 14, 17, 42 to Hawthorn for 6 and 25 is balanced on points, but would they do this? It's more likely that Hawthorn would be trading their multiple lower picks with Brisbane at some point, if Brisbane needs more points."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

RCD delisted by Richmond. We could look at him as a big bodied inside mid (193cm). Bonus is he’s a big Swans fanComment

TS we seem to do better at 25 then 6 !!
Maybe we do strive for this trade with the Hawks 14,17,42 in exchange
But given their crappy draft period they may have to save face !!!"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Here, KB mentioned the possibility of taking 14 and 17 to the draft. This implied that he's also waiting for offers from other clubs. If so, IMO those offers could come as late as draft night."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

If the player we want is still there, on draft night we should offer Saints picks 14 & 17 for 9 & 28.
If that doesn't work, and the same player is still available, we could offer Carlton a similar deal for picks 10 & 29.
If neither of those things work out and there has been no bid on Alwyn Dave by our pick 17, we should offer the Dons picks 17 & 42 in return for picks 22 and their future 2nd.

2022 List management, trading, drafting
FYI, someone asking about the Bowes contract spread
Talk about amatuer hour with Free Agency at AFL House, 2 expansion teams dumping or overpaying players and getting rolled at trade by the Premiers.
Now GWS saying they cant draft most players to their club, debacle

"Geelong was able to bring Bowes in and renegotiate a new contract with him, thereby spreading his big contract out over a longer period of time. So, the Cats will only have the new four-year terms of Bowes’ contract in their salary cap."
