I know it's only in the 2s but 20 Disposals to 1/2 time for Roberts. 9 kicks11 handballs 4 marks. I think it's time for him to come in.

Listening to the Swans huddle at quarter time, it was clear that the boys were being given clear instructions by the coaches on how to counter the Burgers' flooding of our forward line. Essentially, the message was to lower the eyes and don't bomb long to an outnumber situation and look for our spare players through the midfield and half back to run it down there. Great to hear the leadership of senior players like Taylor, Clark, Sinclair, Reid etc talking to and instructing the younger top-up players on what do/not to do.

McLean seems down on stats, is he playing in defence? How is Will Gould going?

Roberts is looking a steal at pick 34. AFL ready.

Amartey should be our backup ruck/forward in lieu of Ladhams. He moves around the ground very nicely and seems a more complete player. Of course, he will have to carry his form into the AFL, but as of now I can see McDonald and Amartey forward setup in the future.

Melican is playing very well. Gould is too. We might have a bit more depth down back than imagined. Fox also getting back in form and Sheather is again playing well in defence. BOC looks a bit shaky.

Warner playing left side wing. He improved since the start of the season. His disposal and decision making are sound. If he keeps this up,, I can see a bright future for the Warner boys.

As of now at halftime, I would look to bring in Campbell, Rowbottom, Ronke, Roberts and Amartey for JPK, JMac (rested), Bell, Wicks and Ladhams.

Having watched our midfield get towled up last night by Cripps, Hewitt and Walsh etc it is pleasing to see a number of the mids in the reserves staking their claim for a call up today. Roberts, Taylor, Rankin, Clark, Stephens and Warner all showing something. Of those, Roberts, Taylor and Stephens the most likely to get a call up in my view.

Its good to see the umps from last night have suited up again - frees 18 -5 lol

McAndrew has looked pretty good had more influence on the game than I have seen so far. Admittedly Coburg don't have many big blokes.

I'd like to see Stephens and Ronke have a big second half.

McLean has been in there trying hard but has dropped some marks he should have taken. Armetey has looked better. Gould serviceable like Melican but not catching the eye.

Yeah, I just checked, because I was thinking it seemed a bit lopsided. It's now 21-5.

Clearly our coaches are doing something wrong with our continual free kick discrepancies.

It’s worth remembering that going into his draft year there were some draft watchers who rated him top 5. Then there seemed to be a focus on what he couldn’t do (not quick enough, not athletic, or whatever) rather than what he can do - which is to be a smart player who knows how to find the footy and win it at the contest.

Frees now 26 to 6. Every potential free they get. We have 1 free this quarter.

26-6 free kick count. The umps are trying to give the game to Coberg.

Just looked at the AFL team stats - the Swans have given away the most free kicks this year - 248. So you may be correct - its the way the coaches are instructing the squad.

Taylor being tagged now in an effort to reduce his influence. I over-heard the assistant coach instructing Roberts on how to help Taylor beat the tag by blocking for him and bumping the tagger. Burgers are having a real go here.

Frees now 28-9 if you don't mind umpire.

Fox was part of Amartey's goal with some gut busting run. I personally would like to see him back in the Seniors - dunno who would be dropped.

Hey Aprilbr - you are there correct? Did you think that kick from Coburg was OOF? Looked at least half a metre over to me - I am only watching the stream not at the game
