Watching the game, I feel playing in the VFL is much better preparation for our developing players than the old NEAFL. In that competition, we won easily many weeks (only a few decent teams lije Brisbane) whereas in this one its tough competition most weeks. The Dees have plenty of players with senior experience and so are a great team to learn against.

Great running goal from the centre by Chad Jnr. That will get a few members excited!

Swans coming back here but missing at goal. Campbell more prominent.

We really got on top in the second half of that quarter. Unlucky not to be in front. Down by 3 points at half time. Sinclair is doing well in the ruck. Most of our draftees can clearly play. Its a matter of whether they can take the next step?

Campbell was possibly our most incisive ball user.

Yes, the second quarter was a lot better than the first. Put more pressure on and there was some degree of urgency when we moved the ball.

Aprilbr, where is Will Gould playing? He seems to be gathering disposals now on a weekly basis. And on paper seems to be getting plenty today

Campbell proving the selectors wrong as he is starting to show his class with his disposals and positioning

I think he is in defense, half back but moving up to the middle of the ground when we are forward.

Interesting that Campbell is playing pure midfield, and has played well. Tackled well, won a few clearances and used his excellent kicking when given space.
I continue to be impressed by Gould. Melican is the better negating defender, but Gould can generate a lot more drive.
At this level Bell is a good half-forward - pressures, covers ground and can hit the scoreboard. Anyway lets see how we go in the second half. If we continue playing like Q2 we are a good chance.

The Swans played much better in the 2nd quarter and are now very much in the game.
I think every kick from Stephens resulted in a turnover. If he is only permitted to handball, he might be okay.
I thought Gould was our best player in the half. He should be getting close to senior selection.
Sinclair has been good, as he has been all season in the VFL.
Clarke gets so much of the ball. His work rate is enormous. It's a shame he can't kick better.
Taylor putting in a good physical effort.
Bell is a natural forward, not a midfielder.

Roberts is a natural footballer, but he has a lot of work to do on his speed and athleticism. I've been watching him more closely this game after his AFL debut. He won't make it at AFL level unless he can speed up his game by a fair margin. He's even tentative going into contests and tackling. Fortunately, there are trainers who can help improve those things.

Stephens has 12 kicks at 3qtr time and hasn't hit 1 target yet.

Much the same mediocre quarter as the first. Hardly got the ball past centre and when we did, we didn't kick straight. Don't know what the clearance numbers were, but I suspect we got smashed. Still, we did okay to stop the momentum, so I suppose we're not totally out of it.

Nice goal from Roberts - sadly not been a lot to cheer about
