I'm a little confused about how the suspension works in terms of interaction between the AFL and VFL. The SEN report says that Ladhams won't be available for the senior team now unless we lose our QF. But surely if we win, and the VFL teams wins next week, the second week of his suspension will be eaten up by the VFL PF, even if our AFL team has the week off. And then the third week would be eaten up by the AFL PF (and the VFL GF, in the unlikely event that the Swans make it).
Or is there a special rule that says both teams have to be playing in a given weekend for a week of the suspension to be exhausted?
I am hoping this is purely academic, and that we don't remotely need him for the AFL grand final (because Hickey's great, not because we don't get there). But I'm curious how it works.
And yes, three weeks does seem excessive, despite the dumbness of the act.Comment

Maybe he did it so no one would talk about how he was getting belted in the ruck and hitting it to Casey mids non stop , and was a butterfingers in marking contests ? If so it worked .Comment

I was bullish for us to get Ladhams as I thought he had a bit of potential, especially when we were trading Aliir to Port. But I fear I was wrong as he looks a pretty ordinary trade in and 3 year deal at the moment!
I wonder if he is happy in Sydney and getting on well with the playing group??? Most of his social media is still referencing Adelaide so he may be struggling to fit in which is affecting his football?
Time will tell but we may need to look at back up options this off season!

It was a very poor act (again!) by Ladhams. And he has really let the team and club down with his suspension. I'm annoyed/angry/disappointed with him.
However, Ladhams' best footy is pretty good and he may be our future ruck so I'm not going to be so quick to wash my hands of him. His discipline and consistency are both big issues that he needs to rectify. I don't (yet) regret bringing him.
Remember, Paddy Mc did something considerably worse in the VFL last year and we've decided to forget about it now that he's playing good footy for us.All opinions are not equal. There may be reasons we don’t know about that lie behind Ladhams’ ill-discipline. It would be nice to at least hear some contrition from him about letting down the club.Comment

It surely can't be long before the club wheel out an statement of regret from Ladhams too. I personally found Paddy's apology last year to be a bit rote and possibly scripted. I got a much greater sense of remorse from Andrew Gaff after he smashed Andrew Brayshaw off the ball, or even from Barry Hall after Staker et.al. All of which is a bit of a distraction because one's public apology skills are not necessarily a great gauge of remorse.
I'm not sure if I have heard about the role Paddy's diabetes played in his incident. Even so, that seems a poor excuse - he has had diabetes all his life and has been playing and managing the condition effectively for years - but I confess ignorance both about the condition generally and about Paddy's particular circumstances so I don't want to be too definitive.
Anyway, I'm not here to pan Paddy. I'm saying I'm not writing Pete off yet despite the fact that he has been poorly disciplined on repeat occasions and also pretty inconsistent with his form. I doubt he'll ever be one of my favourite players. Conversely, I absolutely love Hickey and his work for us.All opinions are not equal. I think we should either contest the length of the ban or, if we don't, privately decide we won't play him again in seniors this year come what may.All opinions are not equal.
