Today's game could be the last for several of the team. Taylor, maybe O'Connor, McLean (seeking trade), Gould (seeking trade). Then we have the retiring group Kennedy, Sinclair, O'Riordan. I also feel Naismith will finally retire for health reasons. Melican seems to be named as seeking trade. Coaches will be viewing today's game with a look at the playing group for next season. We have been a bit ruthless with our first year rookies and maybe Rankin will be in the firing line. The team has potentially 3 games left if they make the GF so good opportunity for all the players under question to showcase their skills and team first attitude.

Rankin is on the senior list, not the rookie list, so he already has a contract for next year.
Even if he weren't, he's shown genuine improvement over the course of the season, particularly in the last month or so, and I think he'd be worth keeping around.Comment

Going to be a tough one to win, as Gold Coast has included quite a few talented young guys, who were playing regularly in the AFL in the latter part of the season: Hollands, Andrew, Flanders, Oea, Sharp, etc. Plus there's some older players with a heap of experience: Sexton, Thompson, Bowes, etc.
Although, there's also plenty of talent in our side, and hopefully they'll be inspired by our Friday night win.Comment

Nice comeback. Winning plenty of contested ball and applying good tackling pressure. Bell and Roberts going well in close. Hall-Kahan, Campbell and Cunningham supplying some outside drive. Amartey looking his usual dangerous self.Comment

Half Time : Swans 7. 7. 49 V Sun 7:5.47. Swans dominated most of the 2Q, hunting the ball and kept the ball in the forward half by lots of tackles but some injuries (O'Connor and McAndrew) caused Suns to come back and a couple of late goals.Last edited by Aaron; 4 September 2022, 02:29 PM.Comment

Hope O'Connor and McAndrew get over their head injuries and come back on. Especially seemed to miss O'Connor when he went off and a couple of goals to Burgess brought it back to a two point game.
Plenty of good players. McLean looked like tearing the game apart in that quarter. Campbell has had some really nice touches. Gould and Sinclair throwing their weight around to good effect. Bell and Roberts have contested hard. Wicks and Ronke have been terrier like in the forward 50.Comment

HHK playing notably well.
Moyle is a giant andseemsadecenttap ruckman. Wonder if we could pinch him?All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

We really needed that last shot at goal to be converted - desperately need a spark from somewhere, as feels like game is well and truly slipping away at this point."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment
