I doubt Ladhams would be moved on and he will fight for one of the fwd/Ruck spots and Stephen’s would have very little If any trade currency

Brodie Grundy in for a second rounder is the best piece of mature age recruiting we’ve done in a long time (yes I know Buddy’s salary).

Outstanding work if it comes to fruition

Hopefully McKay realises his best chance of silverware will be with us and it will be one of our best off seasons ever

Wayward should be shopped around for interest, especially with Port and the Crows. He’s been given enough chances but has gone backwards this year.

Dow u are never far off what happens in reality

          But

If we do land Grundy a very dominant ruck (until he went to the land of the best Ruck in the comp - arguably)

If we have Amartey, McLean, Macca up front

Are u happy that we carry Pete in reserves at $400k pa?

Is there any other options u see as possible that would be better for our squad and our punch at a top4 in 2024?

Oooooohhhh I like that “top4 in 2024”……..it’s got a ring to it ????????????

Stephen’s I do believe is a player that maybe desired for the long term by a rebuilding club

Ie he could be a very good player with another season or two of playing AFL

I mean look at the crazy discrepancy when Acres went from Saints to Freeo for a pretty penny but then back the other way was peanuts to Carlton

          So weird

So hard to determine value depending on crazy other circumstances

Just listened to one of the probable top 10 draftees being interviewed, McKercher from Tassie. I know we will not be in the mix for him but he was so impressive. He talked about how he especially prepared for the big games and loved the challenge of playing against the best. He always wants to make a difference and named Errol and Chad as two of the players he studies and wants to model his game on! Just the kind of player we should always be looking for!!

I saw somewhere an article saying that Carlton specifically chose a team of tough players to play against us in the elimination final. We still have too many players who are too easily pushed off the ball, or are unable to make an effective tackle, and who go missing in the big games. And now with Buddy gone who do we have to stand up and help take the pressure off the smaller players? McLean, Amartey, McCartin? Rampe and Parks and Lloyd are getting older, as we know, and Heeney, Paps and Mills are the ones who carry a lot of 'weight', but apart from Blakey and Gulden, who else do we have to progress us from 8th position to top 4? Rowie for example plays his heart out but on Friday he was having to try and take down players who were so much bigger and stronger than him. I know there is Chad but where was he when he was needed on Friday night! Where were Wicks, Hayward, McInerney ......?

I hope we don't let Melican go in favour of someone that another club is happy to let go of. I think he has what it takes to complement McCartin and Blakey in the backline..

              Auntie,
I think I am very happy to carry Ladhams (400k) as back up Ruck and allow him to fight for a spot with Mcclean and Amartey.

Stephen’s I wish he would be worth more in a trade I really do, but I look at how he’s performed for us and what would I pay for a player like him.

Honestly Auntie if we kept our first rounder, gained Grundy, McKay and Caiden Cleary from our Academy I’d probably cry lol and consider that a massive win ????

And yes top 4 has a nice ring to it ????????????

I look forward to discussing all the potential trades and drafts this coming year with you ????????

Ladhams has a contract and even with Grundy you still need backup. Not sure you are right about Stephens, apparently there are a couple of clubs sniffing around him. Pick 32ish may not be far off the mark

I’d be happy for pick 32 in exchange for Stephen’s anyday - hope your right

                    Dow,
There is no doubt the club are in a very good position in terms of draft capital and salary cap. Grundy is a steal which should only cost us a second round pick. Even if we miss McKay there are other players around. Personally I would be disappointed if we don’t land 2 other players in addition to Grundy through free agency and trade, and still retain our first round pick and pick up Cleary later in the draft

Look I could take that as well and consider it a big win ????

Interestingly, Matthew Lloyd also sees us as top four material next season. Landing Grundy would be a coup that would give that outcome a big impetus.

Wish list that can be achieved if Ladhams and Stephen’s move on :

Grundy - second rounder due to Grundy wanting to go to Sydney and escape the bubble down south

Mackay - nil cost due to NM receiving a serious compo pick. Mackay seeing the 2024 assault along with 2025 real !!

Goldstein - nil cost draft picks same again real assault 2024/25 and maybe club coaching etc opportunity

Pick 11ish - let’s have a go at the draft with 11 or trade up with our other picks

Pick 30 - draft and or trade up

Ladhams - moves on pick 30ish

Stephen’s - moves on pick 30ish as the team after him needs him

We combine Stephen’s and Ladhams for equivalent value and maybe make a pick 20th if another clubs needs the points to achieve what they desire

41 and 49 might be exchanged into 2024 for a smart sharper pick for a team that needs the points in the draft this year

Sweet from the Bulldogs has nominated Port as his future home, so we’re definitely in the box seat for Grundy. The cynic in me wonders if this was planned months ago. But perhaps cynic isn’t the right word; maybe appreciation of our canny club is a better description.

Shopping hayward around might not be such a bad idea. Not in order to trade him so much as to light a bonfire under his bum. It was hard not to notice that his best game by far this year came on the back of the observation made by one of the commentators that he'd never had a B.O.G.
