For me, I've seen an awful lot of marque key forwards, 100 goal seasons etc. - but I enjoyed actually winning a flag far, far more than all that fluff.
Good point. We really need to find a Barry hall or LRT replacement.

I've been on record many pages ago asking for a Naughton approach. The Bulldogs are overrun with talls. He can play both forward and back. He is only 23 and can fit in well with our age profile. His kicking hasn't been as good this year but don't forget he kicked 51.34 last year.

The other club who will soon have an excess of talls is Gold Coast with their guns coming through next year.

Ugle-Hagan's kicking on Saturday night wasn't good. He missed at least 3 or 4 shots and his only goal came from a kick in the goal square. I haven't watched him much so maybe the yips were a one off.

HH looks the most gettable, but I can’t see why Naughton or Ugle-Hagen would want to leave the Dogs. They are very competitive plus with help from the umps can challenge for a flag, unfortunately.

One KPP would be great though so hopefully we pick one up, KB.

Harry Himmelberg is still the main target this year, and might just be enough, depending how we go on the injury front with other KPPs.

If we did chase Naughton, I would look to play him as a key defender. He would be a great intercept mark.

It's going to be hard planning our KPP requirements until the end of the season,There's o much uncertainty with so many players. Himmelberg is a definite yes, and we might just have to wait on the rest.
Agree. Plus, who knows, Buller might work out.

Or we keep our Salary Cap space and just take all our picks to the very strong ND to keep building organically.

It's possible we get three picks in before having to match our first academy player, who is probably Cleary?

You have to pretty much use your salary cap each year anyway.

We are not coming 1st in the comp nor top4

I suspect we have a few gaps we want to fill and not all of those players we will want to be 18 yrs old nor do we have a massive pool of talent in ressies right now

I think we are in a cycle of trades and drafting come November

We have been super bullish on drafting last few years and we know the best teams in the comp do a stronger weighting of both

Cant wait to see how our strategy unfolds and also gives us the greatest probability of getting back into the top4 in 2024

has a nice ring to it

"Skills" was his nick name. He was very skilled at kicking out on the full. One day at the "G" he was playing in the 2's, then around half time we spotted him drinking beers behind us in the outer with a couple of other players. Probably wouldn't see that these days.

It’s going to be a balancing act by the club , going forward we need to leave enough $ for the big pays day coming for Warner ,McDonald and Gulden . McDonald and Gulden come out of contract 2024 and Warner 2025 . I think we may be able to gain someone like a HH from another club but that will be about it . With the extra cost of living we will loose a few handy players along the way unfortunately.

I would prefer we trade away our first round pick and early 2nd rounder for a proven tall as our success rate with open draft picks has not been great in the last ten or so years (exception being Logan McDonald and possibly Florent) . We don't need more smoky small forwards/midfielders!

How can u say we need more small fwsds its not soccer we have enough. What we need is fb chd,chf and maybe a strong midfielder (like joey)
and probably a back up ruck.

The first 8 minutes of this trade and draft video is very interesting.....they talk about Blakey's 'mega-deal' and who the Swans might be targeting in off season trades and how they might go about it.

GETTABLE: Club 'absolutely' hunts No.1 pick, Cal's top 10, do Swans chase Roo?

Yes indeed. It's called the Cayman Project
