Love what we’ve done this trade period

Addressed weaknesses by targeting specific players who aren’t costing any draft capital and probably aren’t costing huge amounts of salary cap

Yes 3 of them are 30, but they are quality players who improve our 22 and put us straight into contention

      Trade Target

I have said it before i would love to prise Esava Ratugolea out of Geelong it sounded like a done deal he was going to Port Adelaide but i have noticed Hawks have joined in hunt for him also , Scott is playing hard ball for him now but at 25yo big bodied can play forward or back & pinch hit in the ruck he is in my opinion exactly what we need as well is not injury prone

I think he is worth the risk

X factor player and we won’t get anything close at pick 11 that is ready to rock. Much more exciting than what we do with last years top pick and his recovery has been tested from his ACL reconstruction.

Exactly. When we had a more consistent squad of our better players we played good footy. We struggled when we had KEY players hit by injuries. The sight of Luke Jackson taking a mark with our defenders coming up to his shoulders will live long in my memory.

I agree with this. Had to address present problem & also keep eye out for the future. If both Parker & Adams do finish up in 3 years time, by then the likes of Sheldrick, Jordan & Roberts would hopefully have developed to cover them. Plus the likes of Cleary and whoever we draft in the meantime behind them.

Despite being 30 next season, I see Grundy as a long term prospect who can play into his mid 30's like Goldstein (not good news for Ladhams if we maintain the 1 ruckman policy).

We’ve given Ladhams a chance, but despite his obvious athleticism and ability, he doesn’t look like he has the discipline or intelligence to use it. Next year will be crunch time for him.

No issue with Grundy, rucks can play longer.
Ladhams if fit will put alot of pressure on Amartey but both have issues staying on the park.
Mclean showed he can cover ground and play backup Ruck well.
Ladhams was doing it well as 1st ruck with over 15 disposals a game.

Grundy and Mclean in the 22, last spot is a toss up.

Don't think this was posted yet.

Sydney Swans make six list changes

Ryan Clarke, Will Gould, Hugo Hall-Kahan, Cameron Owen, Lachlan Rankin and Marc Sheather.

Here are the list changes: Clarke, Gould, Owen, HHK, Sheather and Rankin.

Tend to agree HHK is the most unlucky of the lot, in terms of potential upside and skill set. Sheather's body let him down. I was less enthused on Gould than others. The rest make sense, with Clarke a victim of the arrivals and his limitations.

As an aside, I'm very pleased we've kept Edwards. He's clearly got work to do, but has accelerated his improvement and has an obvious place in our side if he can crack it.

Reid, Melican and Magor staying so far?

I thought Edwards was already under contract for 2024 anyway?

Yes, little bit surprised by Hall-Kahan, as I thought that he showed enough in the VFL, to suggest that he could cope with playing as a winger or half forward in the AFL. Rankin possibly a bit unlucky, as he definitely improved during the season, but I suspect that his fate may have been sealed, by the way that Magor took to playing as a rebounding defender.

And with Edwards, if he can improve his agility when the ball hits the ground, and perhaps his reading of the play, he could be a very good player. Booming kick, strong in the air, can stick a tackle and performed well at academy level when playing as a ruckman.

We possibly just created a spot on the rookie list for Reid?
There's a reasonable chance that Magor could develop into the successor to Jake Lloyd: so well worth keeping.

Assuming Stephens departs as expected, here are the numbers that will be available: 3 (Stephens), 4 (Clarke), 12 (Kennedy 2022), 17 (Gould), 23 (Franklin), 31 (Hickey), 33 (Sheather), 39 (Paddy McCartin), 40 (Owen), 45 (Hall-Kahan).
New players and prospective players without numbers: Adams (30 & 11 GWS, 13 Collingwood), Grundy (35 & 4 Collingwood, 6 Melbourne), Hamling (30 Bulldogs, 21 Fremantle), Jordon (23 Melbourne).

Always a sad time of year with the delistings. Hopefully Clarke can get back on a list somewhere and I am sure there will be some interest in Gould and HHK. Sheather might like to hang around? Could we potentially re-rookie him?
Pleased Magor is still with us though. He looked good in the small amount of reserves footy I saw.
