Fair point...precious commodity with his footy brain, tank and skills. Not that many guys his size playing in the comp.

I'm not laughing. I can't think of any other small we've had in the past 30 years or so who has been so good so early. In recent(ish) times, the young Hanners matches him for leadership traits, courage and footy smarts. Both had instant impact and started directing traffic in their first year. But Errol's skills are far, far ahead of Hanners', and he's quicker too.
Going back a bit further, the great Paul Kelly and Stevie Wright might be in the conversation. Kelly was a different kind of player - a great leader with outstanding marking and unparalleled grunt, but less finesse. Stevie Wright was a star too but neither of them made such an amazing impact as early as Errol.

So while longevity will definitely be a question, at this stage of his career it's not a laughable idea.
My opinion is objective truth in its purest form

They said that about Shannon Grant but he dogged and went bag to mummy. But Errol is home and mum is a Swans tragic.

Steve Wright was a handy footballer but no star. Nowhere near the class of Kelly. Centre clearance king.

Weagles recruiting manager was on Gettable and said he’d heard nothing from Barass or his people about a possible move to the Swans!

Said they weren’t really interested in moving on ANY mature players for picks and in fact they’d be more interested in players than picks

Could all be posturing or could be genuine. Time will tell, I guess

            Paul Kelly
My late father had a great deal of affection for Paul Kelly, Dad called him a "Human Kelpie" because of the way he chased and chased.
His abilities grew and grew so that by the Buckenara years Paul Kelly had become a shining star, but that's not how he started.
But at Errol's current age, there's no comparison Errol Gulden and Paul Kelly AFL Stats Comparison
Is it just the effect of the Academy?

Just for fun, some comparisons with recent rovers
Shannon Grant Errol Gulden and Shannon Grant AFL Stats Comparison
Stevie Wright Errol Gulden and Paul Kelly AFL Stats Comparison
Mitchell Senior Errol Gulden and Barry Mitchell AFL Stats Comparison
Norm Goss Errol Gulden and Norm Goss AFL Stats Comparison

Can't compare Errol to Bobby through that website, but Bobby won his first Brownlow in the year he turned 21, and Errol also turned 21 this year - I wonder when Errol will win his first?

Yes, I'd be very surprised if they let Barrass go. They've really been suffering from their experienced players not playing through injuries. So, the last thing that they need is to trade away a reasonably durable, experienced player, who's in the prime of his career and who appears to be leadership material. If anything, I'd go the other way. That is, trade away a couple of draft picks, to bring in more experience.

Don't know when Errol will win his first Brownlow, but at the moment, he'd be short odds to win his first Skilton medal this year. Which would be only one year behind Skilton, who won his first Swans b & f at 20.

We've got two beauties in Chad and Gulden, haven't we.

For me, our ideal set up is

                  - mix of Rowie, Mills and Parks as first possession (old ruck rover position)
                  - Errol and Chad next possession (old rover position)
                  - Campbell, McInerney outside.

You then have Paps and Heeney pinch hitting in there, and Sheldrick will join the first possession group. Not 100 percent clear yet on Roberts, though I think he'll be a good player.

Chad and Errol both have fantastic capacity to make space and break lines, very quickly. Chad's got the pure explosion of his first few steps, and Errol's got the spatial awareness and elite kicking ability to maximise his opportunities.

We move on- best we know this early! I respect players who choose to stay with their club: shows loyalty is not dead!

I hope not. Bog average. Has a good game about three times a year, and the rest is meh.

                            same age as Amartey
                            similar role
                            similar height etc

Amartey 24 games and 26 goals

Ricarrdi 43 games and 47 goals

he seems to be much more durable and we need another tall upfront as a value signing if we are going after a Key defender and a Ruckman

I agree with you on Robert’s. His lack of pace may hold him back, but there are many players who have overcome this and become great players through their footy smarts. Luke Parker is a classic example.
I still feel Campbell will not be far behind the pair you have mentioned, and I will add Logan McDonald to that list who also exhibits footy smarts
