Nope. He's our only elite KPF, on the verge of being a decade-long 50-goal-a-year forward, who can play high and deep, with elite skills.

Put it this way - from 2010-20, there was obviously Bud, then a gaggle of three - Kennedy, Jack Reiwoldt, and Hawkins; with Roughhead in the gang first half of decade, and Lynch second half of decade.

McDonald is a footballer of that calibre.

As special as Reid is, still no.

Speculative article that we'll be going hard to get Jamarra Ugle-Hagan next year, with theory that our 10 year bid on Naughton was deliberate tactic to raise his contract so that the dogs would not be able to match our expected offer $750k-$800k on Jamarra. Article also states that Logan McDonald will be a target by Freo to return home in 2025.

I think this Journo reads too much RWO and didn't listen to KB's recent interview, where he stated our fan base no longer require the draw card of a power forward to attend games.

All pretty categorical on keeping McDonald vs taking #1, and all perfectly reasonable responses. Of course if I asked Eagles fans if they'd take McDonald for #1 I'm guessing I'd get a similar negative response! (though to be fair they have Allen so probably less critical for them than a high class mid).

          Logan anyday
Draft a Vic number 1 and go thru 12 clubs trying to poach him in 2 yrs
Built up a good WA base around Logan who is Southwest WA, more chance of a longterm future

We are a successful club because we have stable leadership right from top to bottom.
            Don’t count Mills and Campbell.

They were not open draft picks like Stephens, Ling, etc. They were academy products that we invested hundreds of hours into and knew their capability better than outsiders.

The open first round draft picks is where we have not done well overall, but we have of course has some second round, third round and rookie gems.

Every day of the week you take Harley Reid, almost unanimously the best number 1 in 20 years.

              But it’s totally hypothetical

Jaeger O’Meara was also hailed in similar fashion.

Can’t replace McDonald with pick #1 now I don’t think.

Do you recall the song near the beginning of the Lego movie, by memory it was "Everything is Awesome." So I referred to the group of RWOers that maintain a steadfast positivity about the Swans as Legolanders.
Nothing more to it than that.
RWO is a continuum, I merely coined collective terms for either end of the continuum.
I hadn't expected anyone to object to being characterised as steadfastly positive, so maybe the reference was too obscure.

If there is collective term for the group of like minded individuals to which you belong that you'd prefer - then just let me know.

The Legolander collective noun, in no way relates to the responses RWO Legolanders so frequently deploy towards the utterances from RWO's Doubting Thomas' - that's a separate issue.
                  I knew what you meant.

I've moved all the off-topic stuff to the Sandpit. You can keep going on there.

There was an article today regarding the Swans making a play to get Jamarra Ugle-Hagan next year. In the few games that I have seen him play I have not been overly impressed with him. I understand that tall forwards need time to establish their craft but I don't see him as a replacement for Buddy and I am very happy with Logan McDonald. What do my fellow posters think?

Ugle-Hagan, like McDonald, is tracking along just fine for a young key forward. The next couple of seasons are the ones where it will become evident if they'll become top line forwards or just decent players.

You can say that again. Oh wait, you did

Seriously though, what serious things to talk about in this thread until draft night apart from Sam Reid, given we are unlikely to move up the draft enough to get Sullivan?

After all the excitement of the new signings, I feel like some of the energy has now gone and we are now just spinning wheels until draft night.

Agree with that. Will be better than Naughton IMHO. Much better kick.
