      Fair points....maybe he's just seeing how we shape up next season.
      Im hoping his partner coming up from Melb to check out the scenery before inking a longterm deal

        Any hint of detail on the financial side of Grundy ?

        I heard Barrett say a player cant have a deal with 3 clubs at the same time.
        I wonder if Pies are paying some of Adams and Melb paying some of Grundy ?

          I'd have liked to see a ready to play key defender. But we got knocked back and have opted for a bandaid.
          Very professional.
          We still have pick #12 don't we, and some points bearing late picks for Caiden Cleary?

              On SEN this evening, Beatson basically acknowledged that the Swans made a play for Naughton and were turned down. No mention of figures.

                A productive day for Sydney at the trade table. I haven't seen a day like it for some time.

                Stephens

                In: future pick 19, pick 44.
                Out: pick 25, Stephens:
                Points: 756
                Value: pick 34

                This is not too far off what others here were saying would be fair value.

                Grundy

                In: Grundy.
                Out: pick 46, future second-round pick (assumed pick 31 for calculations)
                Points: 937
                Value: Pick 20

                I calculated the future pick as being equivalent to pick 31. This assumes Sydney finishes 8th next year, and takes into account North Melbourne's two assistance picks at the end of the first round.

                Melbourne did well out of this trade, considering they got Grundy last year for pick 27. Are they paying for part of his salary?

                Adams

                In: Adams.
                Out: pick 33

                A good trade, which suggests Collingwood may have got a favourable salary outcome somewhere.

                Draft picks

                Picks 12, 44, 54. Sydney squeezed a lot of value out of its picks.

                Future picks: Sydney upgraded its second-round pick to a first-round pick. Picks: first round, end of first round (pick 19), third round, fourth round.

                Cleary

                Picks 44 and 54 are worth 582 points, equivalent to pick 33. With a 20% discount, Sydney can match a bid on Cleary at pick 26 or later without going into a points deficit.

                My guess for the draft

                Pick 12: Defender. Murphy (200cm) if available, perhaps Leake (188cm).
                Match bid on Cleary
                Three remaining list spots to be filled with rookies.

                    Id suggest clubs will come calling for that North pick too.

                      Pretty happy with this trade period, haven’t felt that for a while.

                      Wonder if there’s any moves left or the cue is in the rack now …

                      Hawkins still unsigned ?

                        We have Tom Mc with Hamling, Melican or Reid (imo).

                        The last 3 played a combined for less than 12 games this year.

                        Obviously Fox and Rampe can help out too.

                            Buller was a FB in the WA state 18s side and made the move forward once he was playing for Claremont Snrs - so he could possibly play down back if required

                              Key defenders are in short supply. Look at the feeding frenzy at the trade tables this year when a few were available.

                              It is my guess that taller defenders will generally be drafted earlier than their position in the draft ranking lists.

                              Defenders from Twomey's September rankings:
                              * Curtin (6, 195cm)
                              * O'Sullivan (10, 198cm)
                              * Murphy (13, 200cm)
                              * Leake (16, 188cm),
                              * McCabe (18, 197cm, Hawthorn F/S)
                              * Roberts (22, 184cm)
                              * Jiath (25, 187cm, Hawthorn NGA)

                              Seven players out of 30 listed as defenders or defender/forward, and my guess is the majority of these prospects will be drafted earlier than their form ranking.

                                Think the swans have improved the list and although I am not a fan of the Adam’s trade i think we have improved our list ????like AG has said in the past the other top sides have got the jump on us in regrades to improving the list with trades
