Im not convinced but a WA kid, 1 yr left and a club with money. If he was adamant with Sydney, he can sign now but hasnt.

If our Naughton offer was half true, surely he has something in front of him

Give Logan his fwd line and let him flourish, its yr 4

We can use a late pick, in the 55 to 60 area, to get a few extra points for Cleary. But even if we fall a bit short this year and drop a couple of spots in the 1st round next year, it's not such a big deal if we finish in the top 8 and we end up with a lower pick in the teens. Dropping spots in the top 10 has a much greater significance.

I think the Adams deal will get done. Deals that don't involve 1st rounders usually work out, because it just doesn't pay to squabble too much over it.

Just saw the Adams deal. So it turned out better than I thought We must have had it lined up before we did the Stephens deal.
Adams deal done for pick 33. Grundy Pick 46 & a Future 2nd.

We have achieved everything we anted to achieve in the first 3 days. Great work by the recruitment team.

Our list is a heck of a lot stronger with these 4 pick ups.

Now we need a KD in the draft to finish off.

44 & 54 will get Cleary in. A bid for him will most likely fall after about pick 15. That is 1,112 but more likely to be around 20 (912). We have 582 so just need to find 330 from somewhere.

And not an opportunity cost given the limited talent pool and our picks in the draft

        Brilliant trading.

        Efficient and necessary.

        Fired up for a top4 challenge in 2024 !!!!

Fair points....maybe he's just seeing how we shape up next season.

They both look good in our jumper.

          ABC Trade Feed's reaction:

"The Swans had some clear targets, and they've gone and brought them in with a minimum of fuss.

So far this trade and free agency period they are sitting at:

IN: Taylor Adams, Brodie Grundy, Joel Hamling, James Jordon, future end-of-first-round pick, pick 44

OUT: Dylan Stephens, pick 25, pick 33, pick 46, future second round pick

          Pretty tidy business."

          I agree entirely....very tidy.

And to consider Melicom is in the same class as a fully fit Reid is weird. Give me Sam anytime as a quality, beloved Swan. Maybe some forget his GF performance. Sorry Liz.

              Which GF?

I have nothing against Reid or the prospect of keeping him. Given how many years he has off in his career he could have an Indian summer of a career. And could possibly play a Blicavs type role (albeit more genteelly). But as already observed in this thread, he has no pedigree as a key defender and so isn’t really comparable to Melican aside from their familiarity with the rehab facilities.

Awesome to get Adams and Grundy in already. Wonder if we are working on anything else.

Despite what you may think about Collingwood, they’re always a reasonable club to deal with at the trade table. Unlike Adelaide, who are the worse.

I understand your concern, but the players we have bought in will not break the bank in terms of salary cap.
The club know there are two key contract signings for next year with McDonald and Gulden. Both are very happy in Sydney and I believe preliminary discussions have started.
Just as importantly Logan’s family are very happy with the way the Swans have looked after him from the time he arrived in Sydney

With the exception of the Godfather offer we (apparently) made to Naughton, the recruiting team seem to have made no attempt to shore up our KPF. If there was any doubt about whether Logan would stay beyond 2024, surely they'd be chasing other tall forward options. This Logan to Freo stuff all seems to have come from some half baked story by a WA journo, similar to the SA bloke who claimed it was certain Will Hayward would return to that stare.

                          I thought Wicks pretty good this season. Reid is a good player, when he plays. The problem is that in the last 6 years he has managed over 15 matches only twice. his games for the past 6 years;

                          2018 1
                          2019 22
                          2020 10
                          2021 10
                          2022 18
                          2023 0

A total of 61 games of a possible 134. One more injury would be the end. Can we take the risk, after all he turns 32 in December. Wicks on the other hand is fit. He is not generally injury prone. He had a pretty good year. Not sure we keep Sam. As much as he has been a great player.

Great work by CG, KB and SD and the whole team. They have addressed all the glaring needs without compromising our list or more importantly our TPP (as most of the recruits will be on medium and not crazy money - thanks Collingwood!). I think all 4 recruits will be useful next year. And the engine room looks decidedly more robust!

At the same time we have picks to ensure Caiden Cleary becomes a Swan, and kept our first round pick intact.
Not everyone will agree, but I believe we now have a better balanced list with a spread of youth and experience.
i tend to agree. I did not think last year was the year to start trading. This is a better year & has proven so. All we need to do now is draft a KPD & Cleary. Sheather is gone so that opens up a Cat B rookie spot. I said at one stage we were interested in an Irishman & I stand by that. The late mail is we have been looking around Eire for talent. It might not happen this year but possibly next.

Tim Gossage said on SEN yesterday that the WA media/papers are desperate for stories, any stories.
