So we officially start with picks 12, 44 and 53……plus North's end of first-round pick next year as at 11/10/23
Hopefully I have that correct ?
Plus we got our 4 target trades / Free agents done and dusted"be tough, only when it gets tough"

If Collingwood want to do the Adams trade they will have to accept 31 & 44, or whatever can be traded up for it. After giving up our 2024 2nd rounder, I don't think we will want to trade out the pick we got from North. Else our 2nd pick next year will likely be in the 50s.
We can use a late pick, in the 55 to 60 area, to get a few extra points for Cleary. But even if we fall a bit short this year and drop a couple of spots in the 1st round next year, it's not such a big deal if we finish in the top 8 and we end up with a lower pick in the teens. Dropping spots in the top 10 has a much greater significance.
I think the Adams deal will get done. Deals that don't involve 1st rounders usually work out, because it just doesn't pay to squabble too much over it.
Just saw the Adams deal. So it turned out better than I thought We must have had it lined up before we did the Stephens deal.Comment

There is always room for Sammy Reid while Wicks remains unsigned. Reid contributes more in a quarter of a season than Wicks does playing the whole year. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

An outstanding adjustment to helping our squad be much more competitive in 2024
This squad has a great probability of taking it to the wire…….which is want we want to see
And not an opportunity cost given the limited talent pool and our picks in the draft
Brilliant trading.
Efficient and necessary.
Fired up for a top4 challenge in 2024 !!!!"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Well I feel a lot better about this than a couple of hours ago when reading the Stephens trade. To bring in 4 experienced/ depth players whilst retaining 1st round pick plus picking up extra 1st round pick next year is pretty good.
We pretty much lost Stephens and Dawson for minimal return, which shows the importance of getting players contracted!Comment

Excellent work by the Swans recruiting team. We have in essence given up a future second round pick that is more than offset with North’s end of first round pick next year. At the same time we have picks to ensure Caiden Cleary becomes a Swan, and kept our first round pick intact.
Not everyone will agree, but I believe we now have a better balanced list with a spread of youth and experience.Comment
