If we think the lad is a future elite ruckman, it's a good pick. Grundy has 3-4 years left. Ladhams and McAndrew are not premiership ruckmen. We've tried to trade up to get Caddy, no dice. Green looks good in the videos. I'd be happy with it.Comment

Fair point, but considering the deficiencies we have in defence and at stoppages surely those areas need more immediate attention ? Ruckman who won’t add value for a number of years surprises me - but hey sure they know what they’re doing. I would of loved O’Sullivan for what it’s worthComment

We develop him, only for another club with a pressing ruck need to then pinch him. I see Grundy being our No. 1 ruck for next 5 years.
Thought we would prioritise drafting a ruckman with our 1st pick towards the end of Grundy's contract.
But i'm just a couch expert and trust the club's nous should they do draft Green. Particularly if we do split our 12 for 17 & 18, to pick Green and a Defender then match bid for Cleary.Comment

An interview with Zane Zakostelsky: 'A bit of a wake-up call': Rejection fuels fire for WA draft bolter
If we end up splitting pick 12, drafting Green and ZZ would be a good get IMO. Would we really draft two talls? Or is there a player who can do both?"Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

sort of feeling like we have re jigged behind the scenes our list and rookies and we might be keen to go for 3 players in the top30 or so
Two key positional players with picks 17/18 from North Melb if we can make it happen for pick 12
ie ends up more like pick 21 and 22
Then Cleary as our 3rd pick?...........with our remaining picks 45 and 55 which are pretty close to the mark re pts after discount if the Pies go at him before pick 30ish.........unless they are trading up without us knowing which would be interesting and a little scary.
I mean we have stacked our key positional players for this year and next with lots and lots of depth...........but no stand outs except for TomMac, Rampe, Lizard...
Hamling, Melican, Reid, Francis, Arnold, Edwards and maybe even Buller could play as a swing tall ? All these guys can play tall in the backline and some will be more ready than others for Snrs but it is a lot to choose from.
That is almost 7 potential fringe talls to choose from as a KPD for Seniors over and above TomMAc, Rampe and Lizard and even Fox playing on up to 192cm types
PS Does anyone else feel that if two KPD's are equal in skills and height etc.........that we would prefer a left footer given our strike down the left wings for an exit kick ?
Arie sort of fits that bill ?Last edited by Auntie.Gerald; 20 November 2023, 09:18 AM."be tough, only when it gets tough"

We need to take the absolute best talent available at our picks. What will be interesting if we trade back with North. If we do that, and pick up two picks who h has been touted, we still may only use one and do a swap with another club for 2024.Comment

Reading Twomey's take this morning on all the potential pick swaps has my head spinning.
Given the chance of some of these swaps occurring and the likelyhood that the draft order is turned on it's head, for once it looks like a great draft to watch rather than the usual just ticking off Twomey's top 10 at the rate of one every 5-6 minutes.
Limiting what we can do is our lack of list vacanciesComment

Fewer vacancies means we're happy with the players on the list. Or, as we've done this year, filled vacancies by trading.
Many vacancies means lots of players have been delisted, the dreaded rebuild. North Melbourne delisted about 20 players in the past three years. Look where they are.
Clubs expected to use three picks or fewer, top 8: Brisbane (3), Carlton (2), Collingwood (2 or 3), GWS Giants (3), Melbourne (2 or 3), Port Adelaide (2), Sydney (2)
Clubs expected to use three picks or fewer, bottom 10: Adelaide (3), Essendon (3), Fremantle (3), Hawthorn (3), Richmond (2)
Clubs expected to use four picks or more, top 8: St Kilda (4 or 5)
Clubs expected to use four picks or more, bottom 10: Geelong (4 or 5), Gold Coast (4), North Melbourne (5 or 6), West Coast (4 or 5), Western Bulldogs (4)
Average number of picks (finalists): 2.7
Average number of picks (non-finalists): 3.7"Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

From my glance of the top 30 it doesnt appear other clubs will bid on Green before a pick 17/18 if we did trade those for pick 12?
Does anyone else read it that way from Twomeys list?
If that is the prediction most likely then giving up 12 in exchange for 17 and 18 makes so much sense to grab Green at what will become pick 21 and KPD and or another mid at what will become most likely pick 22 ?
Green is a talent no doubt.
Then there are also some decent KPDs up to the early 30's
17 - Ruck
18 - KPD
45/55 - Cleary matched
that is a very good outcome with our trades and a serious over haul of our list when in a window

worth watching especially his give and go..........ie his follow up work after releasing the ball on plus his short kicks in addition to his dominant marking are all very sound...............not to mention his 6min 30 sec 2km time trial ..........BTW same height as Darcy Moore also 204cm vs 203cm and not unlike build at same age as Darcy
Could Green actually play some KPD in the next few years while developing and waiting in the wings for Grundy to retire etcLast edited by Auntie.Gerald; 20 November 2023, 03:23 PM."be tough, only when it gets tough"

With all the talk of using a first round pick on a ruckman, has anyone done a health check on Ludwig?'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment
