In more positive news, the draw going forward gets easier though.

If we can win the three games before the bye and get Rampe and Hickey back, we will be a lot better placed.

They don't call him Wayward Hayward for nothing.

You should watch that game. Feels like Freo might be a better fit for you than the swans. Perhaps you'd have a greater affinity with their players than you do with ours.
There were some very untimely free kicks that really were plucked out of nowhere when the umpire heard the Collingwood complaints and literally seconds later would decide yes I'll go with the crowd decision and award them a free kick.
Our wayward kicking which was awful and the way so many calls went against us were both as damaging for us today.
            We also miss Rampe terribly.

Guys, let’s all settle down. Two areas need to improve- goal kicking practice, now mandatory ad nauseum for all forwards, especially the main culprits; and coaching and fitness staff have a lot of work to do to enable our lads to not only play with intensity but to apply extra pressure in the last quarter.

The latter may be a tall ask, but if the Pies can do it consistently, we too should have the ability to do the same.
Luck and momentum changing umpiring both can influence a game but we can only work on what is in our control, and bad kicking is now a priority.

If i was paying 600k + to an AFL FWD i would expect they can kick 35m. Heeney and buddy are taking the piss atm....

Let’s just look at the umpiring in pure statistical terms. Collingwood had a net advantage of 14 free kicks. 14 free kicks is more disposals than TEN Collingwood players gained in the match! That’s the equivalent of having an extra middle range player on the ground.
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.

That's a fair point but missing multiple shots from 15 to 30 meters out not much angle or straight in front and not being able to play out four quarters might have had something to do with the result as well.

I’m going to look at the positives Gulden is having a break out year and so is Blakey . Chuck in Campbell who is growing with every game there’s definitely positives . I’ll throw in Fox as well off a limited preseason he has been immense. As a team can’t fault the effort but man we have got to get a better conversion from set shots .

One worry is our lack of scoring. We have had 18 scoring shots. That is woeful. We need to find a way to score against good sides. 6.12 is pathetic. There is a definite disconnect between the players up the ground and our forwards. I think it is worse when Bud plays. That is because we just over use him. It was obvious today that he is just a contributer and is a shadow of his glorious self. But we still use him as though he is Super Bud.

The tempo footy did not work. It was predictable and slow. Get rid of it. It is old news anyway. Old coaches with old ideas that every other coach knows how to combat.

I thought Francis was pretty good. He provided a spark. If Sheather is not fit next week then bring in Hall-Khan. He is at least a forward, not a mid playing forward. I was stunned that Laidler decided to play him on a wing the week after he kicks 5. Baffling.? He is a natural small forward.

Yes, 5 shots from less than 30. 4 behinds and 1 OOF. Then there was the one that went out of bounds. Strait across goals.i think it was Papley, don't know what he was trying to do. I think he was trying to set up but miscued.

The wind must have been pretty gusty as at one end it was hard to score. Although they had no probs in the last although most of their goals were close in. It has been a recurring problem thus year. Then again a dislocation with the forward line is a worse problem.

I don’t think there is any rules that say the amount of free kicks have to be equal ? The umps had no influence on this game

Too much over reaction based on what was probably over achievement last season combined with a long injury list to key players exposing our lack of depth.

Agree kicking for goal has been dreadful in a number of games we've lost and if we'd nailed shots we should have, then the pressure on all the team would be less during games. Had games won but lost momentum, other games inexplicably uncompetitive.

We do not play in a vacuum. there are 18 teams in this league all trying to win, every week there are nine losers, we're having that more often this season, accept that things do not always go as we'd all like.

Analysis and opinion we all like to read, it's why we attend RWO. Unfortunately there are some more extreme comments that are best not read. We all support the club passionately but let's be level headed and realistic about what is happening.

I haven't watched the full game yet but will do so in the next few days. From what I saw Parker was being a beast and Errol was Errol Everywhere.

We had 18 scoring shots, and several that didn’t trouble the score sheet from close range. So about the same shots on goal that the Pies had; in the last quarter they kicked some crazy goals, e.g. Mihocek, and what was a blind kick out of a pack from 55m by Frampton. When the Footy Gods are with you, these things happen. At present we seem cursed in every respect, despite the best efforts of our hard-working midfielders and defenders. I’m sure the forwards are working hard too, they’re getting the chances, but leaving them out there.
