Doesn't it seem strange we would offer Picks 19 and 22 for Pick 13 from Gold Coast ?
Isn't this supposed to be a deep draft ?
Wouldn't you just keep 6 picks back ?

I know they might slip a bit but so will 13

With Vickery and Magor going, will still haven’t found the successor to Harry Cunningham, who's done a quite effective job of being the successor to Nick Smith. Just quietly, I wouldn't mind giving Wicks a crack. I suspect he'd relish the role of driving an opposition forward bat@@@@ crazy. He's quick, agile and likes to tackle. And I think he may have done the occasional tagging role in the NEAFL, when he first started out. Although, the main drawback would be he might give away a few silly free kicks in a costly position. But still, the competitive nature of the battles would probably be attention grabbing.
He is too much of a risk down back Deja. Yes, he is competitive but can’t mark overhead and simply isn’t skilful enough to be in the team. If we don’t play Campbell midfied then he would be a possible successor to Harry as he is quick and a good mark- and of course his kicking is elite!

You don't turn a Top 10 into Harry, you turn a Pick 60 into Harry

Suspect we have a particular player we are really keen about that we don't expect to be available at our current first pick.

Or we need pick 13 for a trade ?

so that the club we trade with can use that pick 13 for their advantage ?

It may just be that we only have list spots to draft two, including Cochrane who will likely attract a bid latish in the draft. And so we want to maximise the value of those two late first round picks we have. If we can't trade out, one might land up being pushed back to next year.

Summary of discussions between North Melbourne and Sydney for Luke Parker trade, from here:
                  * Parker is a contracted player.
                  * Swans list manager Chris Keane: the trade is more complex than it appears.
                  * North Melbourne list manager Brady Rawlings: discussions with the Swans are slower than those with the Eagles for Darling (trade done). North don't want to compromise their draft hand. Looking for something to satisfy the Swans.

My guess: the Roos may want to hold on to their early picks in this year's draft. Are future picks on the table for Parker?

                    North Melbourne: 2, 25, 43, 61, 67
                    less the Darling Trade

                    hmmmm

will they give up pick 25 for Parker?

                    unlikely

we may not be keen on Norths pick 43 either

i wonder if we will take their future pick 25ish and use it this year in a trade ?

compare compensation picks for battle (sts),perryman and cummings (gws) and u all appear to be saying that nth wont give up first rnders. Atill say we should look for 2 & 43 (for cochran) and give nth our picks 19,22 and 58 (after compn taken intp account) We get scewed all the time. It a;ways said swans are interested in... the player mgt says to get interest in...

forgot to add the trade selected would rate Luke picks 20-23. As i said compare with other compensations noted Battle pick 6,perryman pick 16 and cummings 21. They are not in Lukes class.

The reality is Luke isn't getting 6yr contract or in his mid 20s to be able to give a club 150games

I get 40s is unders but the comparison is not quite right either

On another note, I wonder if we are watching Denver GB for a WA kid to bring in, Out of Contract was touted as something, id take him on over Francis or Hamling

Without looking at Denver GB details as to why he hasn't lived up to expectations so far, do we really need another average to good backman as in Hamling, Francis etc when we have Edwards and perhaps Snell in the background already. We are in a window where any trade-in needs to be someone who can enhance and make a difference right now, preferably someone to take over the Rampe/Lloyd roles as needed. Every year we draft in young half backs and just as regularly delist young half backs! Fortunately Roberts is becoming a back-line 'keeper', hopefully elite in time!

We like players to be flexible, positionally, but some players like Florent and Campbell who began as mids, probably Lloyd too when you see him when switched to the wing, adapt to whatever role they are asked to play. Look at Heeney though, he will play well wherever he is played but put him in the middle and he stars.

I wonder as well he’s a wait and see with the Hawks, love to know why he didn’t live up to the hype to this point of his career ? I’d throw him a bone ? he played with a few of our boys in the U18 Championship
