It's time to open up that creaky cabinet door and blow the dust from those long neglected stacks of irregularly labelled VHS tapes. We're heading back to 2002; Round 22 at the Olympic Stadium to be precise.

Our reserves team battled bravely and in their Saturday morning match against Eastlake, only to be denied a win by a controversial 50 m penalty with 30 seconds left on the clock. Disappointing: yes, but taken against the bigger aim of the competition – to develop our younger players, there was much to like.

The game started with very few people in attendance, track work slowed all Western trains and the Moore Park buses were no where to be seen at 9.40. By dint of sharing a cab with another frustrated Swan fan, all I missed was Jayco’s only goal – a great pity as he did bugger all for the rest of the match. SYDNEY AFL GRAND FINAL - East Coast Win Premiership Glory

The One Day in September that we want to remember had come; and Sydney footy's biggest day saw East Coast Eagles taking on Uni NSW-Eastern Suburbs. East Coast had the easiest run to qualify for the grand final, playing only the one final; and were attempting to create a slice of history with their first Premier Division title.
