I agree I think you have mentioned this several times during the season

Thats his preferred club not a nominated club, as far as I am aware he has not nominated any club yet.

Id be happy to have him on our books even if its just to provide some depth.

I only suggested giving up a player in a trade because that was the general consensus of what would be required.

Other possible trades could be two first-round picks instead. Most likely, that would be pick 9 and next year's future first. Carlton are not likely to hold on to pick 9 but may want to trade it. Perhaps Sydney could trade that pick instead to extract better value? Pick 9 for someone's future first (2026), one or two later picks in this year's draft for bid matching, and give the future first to Carlton.

The more I consider this, the more likely it becomes that this Curnow trade is not going to be a two-club trade.
Playing with fire offering up a player you just signed for 5yrs....May as well say the whole list is available, at least thats what Agents will think of underpaid players

The AFL website is suggesting that Geelong could be Curnow's preferred destination. Geelong is unwilling to part with any players to get the deal done, and they are after Marshall as well. Does their salary cap ever get full? I'm not sure why Sydney's expected to offer up a player in addition to a first-round pick but Geelong is not. Geelong will need to use two first-round picks in the next three years, and they need to expend one to get Marshall from St Kilda. How on earth can they get both Curnow and Marshall, hold on to two first-round picks and not part with any first-18 players? They seem to be short two first-round picks at least.

Meanwhile, Brisbane is loading up on free agents as well, getting two that attract compensation of band 2 or better, in addition to drafting Annable around pick 5. Must be nice to win the premiership then get the equivalent of four first-round picks. Whoops! The AFL is changing the draft rules so Brisbane gets to pull up the ladder after themselves.

If there's a case for a trade and free agent ban, it's Brisbane and Geelong right now.

I am praying a deal doesn't get done, I would be happy to go to the draft and hope to pick up a few guys like Jai Serong looking for more opportunity.

Geelong are very good at getting deals done and hope they do again

Serong would be a very good get. He’d likely play right away as a third tall, can intercept, he’d help in freeing up Blakey and allowing us to start the transition from Rampe.

He’s never going to mind the genuinely big boppers but he’d make for a good addition.
