Yes and no. All the changes that you've listed are accurate, but list sizes are a little bit variable. That is: the list of an AFL club is supposed to be 44 players, but that can be made up of 36, 37 or 38 on the main list, and conversely, 8, 7 or 6 on the rookie list. Last season we had a 36 and 8 split. So this season, if we wanted to, we could switch to 38 and 6. Which would mean that we could leave Rampe and Lloyd on the main list, and still have 3 spots open for the draft.

And now that I think of it, I did make the assumption that Hamling was re-signed to the rookie list, rather than the main list, and that neither of Edwards and Hanily will be promoted.Comment

I agree this is what may happen. I'm not sure how many list vacancies there are right now, but I think it's less than three. Sydney need to take four picks to the draft to get maximum value from them. Two picks won't cut it, three is borderline.
Does anyone have a good idea of the number of vacancies on the main list?
Main list changes: Fox (delisted), Florent (traded), Hayward (traded), Mitchell (delisted). Four list spaces.
Rookie list changes: Buller (traded), Francis (delisted), Kirk (delisted), Leidler (delisted), Paton (delisted). These make no difference to the main list.
New players: Curnow, Rosas, Serong.
Four players leaving, minus three new players leaves one list vacancy. Have I got this right?Comment

I've done the exercise a couple of times, deja is correct, including Lloyd and Rampe we now have 35 on the senior list, so that's three picks to the ND.
If we want to possibly use a fourth pick, it's 62 that we hold, and it will come in a fair bit, we need to move someone to the rookie list, easily done using one of the players in their final season.
I'd like to go to the ND holding four picks, you never know what may crop up so it pays to have a pick available.👍 1Comment

An article on AFL.com.au says Sydney is likely to use three or four picks this year."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

I think that is the case, however stand to be corrected on this. Hamling was on the rookie list last year.Comment

Good article on the AFL website about how many picks clubs are likely to use. Looking like a record low number of selections will be made this draft. So many clubs won't be using picks that our 62 couls well drift in to become a points bearing pick.
From the AFL website "AFL.com.au's assessment seeing a minimum of 44 picks and a maximum of 57 picks being used. That would likely see an all-time low number of selections, with the previous low being 59 in 2022. Recent years of this annual exercise has shown the clubs have generally been closer to the maximum number of expected picks than the minimum, with some opting to take an extra selection on the night as a player surprisingly gets through to their pick"
Hopefully we use four, could be some likely academy players get through to the rookie draft where we can just add them without using a RD pick where we have pick 9
