i remember in my last few years of serious sport ie lat 20s early 30s PL soccer Sydney comp.......after playing AFL 13yrs to 28yrs............we had a lady who is a lecturer of Sports Science come along for a 6 week block to do our pr season

Wont mention her name but she still runs in the 11 seconds for 100m and is in the Over 35s and came 2nd in the world

Her trainiing into muscle groups ignored and increasing technique and form was profound for our squad of 30

    Mind blowing for me

Great move by the Swans to get a gun in to reshape technique, awareness and opportunities to sustain new levels of elite level maintanence with our very important players who have been struggling with injuries !!!!
Just shows the level of professionalism that the club is prepared to go to. No wonder the Swans are a destination club

Having watched the Bill Knowles video it demonstrates the commitment the club has to the players. No wonder they are a destination club. Full credit to the coaching and medical staff to leave no stone unturned in the search of excellence

Ironically they have predicted that GWS will be the club that makes bids for both Kyle and Carmichael with consecutive bids. Will be interesting to see if that happens

The AFL should bring back the veterans' list as a part of the rookie list. The main change would be the removal of the rules that require veterans to be delisted and then redrafted to the rookie list. Two players per club maximum, with qualifications based on seniority.

More speculation on the recruitment of Sydney's Academy players on Gettable today (starts at 12:45).
Noah Chamberlain: late draft or rookie option.
Lachie Carmichael: bid may come at 15 to 20.
            Max King: same range.
Harry Kyle: "just inside the 20s".
Swans may have to make a choice if one of the "later" prospects is bid on first.

I'm expecting Sydney to have a live pick trade agreed to and ready to execute if needed, most likely with the Suns or Lions.

So we have good authorities rating our academy targets as going early and causing us grief all the way out to comfortably getting them all. Only Carmichael has a solid resume, the rest are speculative.

Think I'll wait for Twomey's last Phanton effort just prior to the real thing before getting worried.

Fingers crossed first night of the draft doesn't hear any of our names called in what again shapes as a lengthy first round of 25/26 picks.

intereting read on Craft Central with a phantom draft. No swapping of picks based on needs and getting academy kids over the line. Has hk first at 23, LC at 24 (from what i can read match to nth) and mk at 32 matching gws i think.
But one thing i did think while working thru this list is that the Northern States should get together and determine not to bid on each others Academy boys (at least keep us together and stuff other clubs, vic in particular. Also agrre that "rookie" list name be changed to supplementary to include mature age club players dropped from main list (DR and JL), rookies which this phantom has added N Chamberlain and K mCNamara as rookies leaving a spot open for another rookie . whole exercise by draft central a waste but interesting reading.

another comment re lists. agrre with I think it was thunder shaker that there should not be a requirement to dislist a player before adding to "rookie" or supp list That should be allowed in afl rules. But perhaps it could be only available to 2 such "older players" with the thought that rookies or newees should be the majority number on the "supp" list.

Yes, it's going to be a strange first night of the draft for us: just hanging around, hoping that nothing happens.

A lot of these pundits have incomplete information. Pure rankings are not indicative because clubs draft for need, not just best available. I'll also wait for Twomey's phantom draft.

This year's draft has 5 additional picks in the first round (four free agency plus one assistance pick), four players tied to clubs who could be drafted in the top 10 plus an additional four players who could be drafted late on the first night. Brisbane, Carlton and Gold Coast hold six first-round picks between them.

It's hard to tell how many picks the first round of the draft will have this year. It could be as many as 28 picks. I'm expecting a lot of pick trading to take place in the first round this year. I believe Brisbane, Carlton, Gold Coast and Sydney are most likely to make pick trades before the draft and on draft night.
