On playing list issues going forward, Roos said he was unsure of the status of ruckman Peter Everitt's quest to become a Swan, but did declare the club's first and second round picks off-limits in any trade negotiations in the coming month.

Alright what do we need?
Obvious areas are Ruck, Midfield divisions and then tall strong bodies in defence.
The midfield could possibly work itself out with the development of McVeigh (who I believe should be let off the leash and play in the middle next year), Malceski (see McVeigh) and possibly Moore coming good on the early promise he has shown. These developments would possibly allow for the trading of Fosdike and one other midfielder.
I would tell Barham or anyone else in the recruitment area to go and get us players along the likes of Kepler Bradley (198cm and only 21 later this year), possibly Jaymie Graham/Brent Staker. All of these players would have possible reasons for wanting to leave their clubs eg. lack of opportunities or staleness. Just get one of these and watch Roosy make him a permanent fixture in our team. I recall Bradley being a champion junior Ruckman who I am sure would relish the opportunity to play there.
Give the above guys the same opportunities that Richards got this year and with the right attitude they would become very handy additions.

I posted this on bigfooty.com;
"How about getting someone like Mal Michael in and putting LRT into the ruck? IIRC LRT went into the ruck once or twice later on in the season (When it was clear Chambers wasn't up to it and before Doyle came back) and he did alright. Has a fair bit of height, (196cm) and has the athletic ability to run with some of the premier ruckmans. Could be a work in progress, but get him out of defense."
Thoughts?Comment

He'd have to bulk up to perform consistantly in this position...I'm not sure he'd be able to fill out in this way (could be the swans next Scott Stevens). Could do what the Crows did with Stevens and feed him 'roids with his morning cornflakes. Either way he has the skills of a ruckman...not a CHB.The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.Comment

I think we've put far too much effort into the Hyphen to trade him now. He's very entertaining: he always makes the simple look impossible. I must say I really like him. He's certainly not classy, but he gets bonus points for his second and third efforts. And he's a big boy now, and our defence needs those.Comment

Besides the ruck deficiency, our other glaring hole is a class outside midfielder a la Johnstone or Hodges - someone who delivers well inside 50. Perhaps Kennelly or Malceski is this elusive beast but if a quality external option came up, I'm sure the Swans would look at him.
Otherwise, I suspect Spida may be our only trade play this year.Comment
