And yet he played as well in the second half as he did in the first half...

Yes, I'd probably prefer to keep Ablett than J Bolton. I wonder if Bolton has peaked. You never know with Ablett - he may actually come good.

Guess what sunshine, we were all right about Stafford. What did he do at richmond?
Bas, that was my point, Stafford was in terrible form and when he was traded, he could not be classed as 'trading an established player'.

Half the knobs........sounds like you should come and join us or go out on a date with "marry me goodes". Could I suggest Malabar treatment plant.
Bas, I have no time for 'fans' who attack their own players the way Stafford was. He was at a low point in form and confidence and the cheer that went up when he was dragged and the boo from that section of the crowd when he came back on was a disgrace. Simple really.

I didn't mean to suggest that all people in that area were knobs and half of them booed, I'm sorry if you took it that way and were offended, it wasn't my intention. I just believe the 'fans' that acted that way were knobs. Hatley does a good job getting you guys going and you often lead and start the chants for the rest of the SCG, so good on them.

Strange that Stafford went to Richmond, they turn on their own quicker then any other group of supporters.

I do remember a certain Stafford being traded that resulted in Barry Hall coming to Sydney a couple of years ago?

seriously, trading barry hall isn't a total crazy idea, just depending on who we get in return. If it means Pavlich, Jonathan Brown, or Chris Judd coming to Sydney, then I am all for it.
Would that be the same Brown whose coach says his body is falling apart? Baz has now played 100 in a row. Has Brown played 10 in a row? Why not bring back Plugger - he was looking pretty fit on Saturday?

I was talking to a Swans player about Spida on Saturday. He said Roos wants three ruckmen - and he's saying that Spida is definitely in serious discussion. I wonder how he'll react to the captains' lecture to recruits . . .

We would have won on Saturday with Everitt and I think he could be the difference next year too.

Definitely don't trade Barry Hall. Who would Nikki Tugwell be able to write articles about if he goes??? Players who should be asking for trades are Schmitt and Willoughby as there are a number of players ahead of them in the midfield. Maybe trade for a tall defender, like a Ray Hall, who has done ok in the past and is a capable ruckman as well. Hall is also a NSW boy so he might relish an opportunity up here.

No worries Jeffers, wasn't trying to bag you .

Walls in the Sunday Age gave him a low rating and stated that he couldnt control Braun and some other player - bit hard from the wrong side of the boundary Robert!!

The younger Everitt would have helped but did you see Everitt play this year? He was pretty ordinary and would have been smashed by Cox on Saturday

Everitt seemed to lack interest this year. Everritt of 2005 would have been very competitive. It may be that Everitt of 2006 was simply an aberration.

Jude is the one player in our top 10 that we might (a) consider trading and (b) get reasonable value for.

But we shouldn't underestimate his value to our side - he's excellent at stoppages - only just behind Kirk for tackles, and IIRC was our #1 for clearances.

i can't see roos trading anyone from our premiership side unless they want to go ... he has said he will keep our first two draft picks (which i think is a good idea) and i think he will be looking for key defenders or forwards and possible delisting or trading some of the reserve players.

I love Jude's work close in, but his kicking was a liability on Saturday, as it has so often been. Every time Jude gets a kick, the family is tired of me saying "this will go anywhere"... and I'm tired of having to say it too...for me, a summer with a kicking coach is needed , or, failing that, I don't mind him being "on the table".
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

Or like the rest of us he is getting older and at 32 years of age he's not as physically capable as he used to be

Usually in the preseason draft players seem to end up with the club that they want to go to. eg. B2. St K is the big danger with Everett because they can get half his salary outside the sdalary cap due to his verteran status there.

But remember when you look at Everett, Polak, Tarrant, Gardiner etc you are playing with fire in terms of upsetting the swans strong player code. You can't risk giving ND any mates to tempt him away from the straight and narrow.
This is the most sensible post in this thread so far!

I am beginning to have serious doubts about how Everitt would fit into our team given the "no dic kheads policy". I must admit that I have been very impressed with him on the basis of this performances on White Line Fever this year. He seemed articulate, had a sense of humour and fun, and was knowledgeable about football. In short he appeared to have "matured". But I saw him on "Before the Game" on Friday night in Melbourne and I must say I was very underwhelmed.... seemed to be rambling and possibly to be a bit under the weather. He was rambling on and on about St Kilda. Did anyone else see this? Like the Big Cat above, I would also be worried about prividing NickyDee with any "mates" to lead him off the straight and narrow.

How about giving Schmitt and Willoughby five or six games to prove themselves.

But don't panic must be the motto.

We found some good players this year, and with good picks, we will be very competitive. See whats comes on the market. because players want to come us to play final footy, rather than to Calton.
