No player is untradeable, if the right trade is on the table.

Granted, realistically there are some players who are not tradeable for a number of reasons:

      - Integral to team structure (Hall, Goodes)
      - Absolutely no trade value because of age (Mathews, Crouch, Barry, Kirk, O'Loughlin)
      - Irish (Kennelly)

If you want quality, you're going to have to pay with quality. For THE RIGHT TRADE, any one of Bolton, Bolton, O'Keefe, Schneider, Malceski, Ablett etc might be shopped around.

You see it every year. Every club's officials and supporters hype up the value of their own players, and downplay the value of other clubs' players.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

O'Loughlin is tradable mate. If Aker is, then so is Micky. There's another 3 very good years left in him i think.

I think Micky's signed to the end of 2008 .... not that that means much these days (please correct me if I'm wrong).

NMW .. re the "unless someone else picks him up first" ... I don't think many clubs are in the financial position to be able to afford him. Who knows?

I still reckon they shouldn't trade anyone for him and just take their chances and maybe get a bargain basement ruckman who is willing and able to do the job and *maybe* help us to premiership 2007. IF they don't pick him up, so be it. We make Jolly, and especially Dolye, work harder, then try again for more ruckmen at season end 2007.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Could the same be said about Spider? He is much older then these you mention.

That's why we shouldn't give up much for him and/or let him go into the PSD.

Don't get me wrong, i'd hate to lose Micky, he's been there since i started supporting Sydney, i wish he could stay forever, but he is tradable if the right deal was there. I do agree with you on the latter points though, we aren't desperate for another ruckman, we've been in consecutive GF's without Everitt, so why the sudden need for him now? if we get him in a fair trade then that's cool, if not, let him go in the pre season draft n take our chances. It's not the be all and end all of next season!

                Thanks Deadly.
                Micky's a one jumper man.
Don't worry, whilst he is definately tradeable, and let's face it we have a VERY tradeable TEAM (e.g. no-ones talking about big trades from Carlton & Essendon) he won't be going anywhere.

Oh yeah, I forgot about them.
I thought they'd only take him after any deal in Sydney fell through first ... they know he's picked us first, them second.

Geez ... imagine being in Spida's shoes. Scary eh??

Based on a couple of interviews with St Kilda players (current & ex) on the weekend on radio, they don't exactly want him.

In the end it's the coach that will make the decision but without a coach at present it may come down simply to the players having a bit more of a say in it.

That's what I was thinking. Whilst they may be able to afford him, they don't have a coach to fight for him.

I seriously doubt anyone except for Sydney is going to give Spida anything close to what he wants.... Or what Hawthorn wants....

He's a player in the twighlight of his career with a questionable work and team ethic as well as injury concerns... It's only that there is such a shortage of ruck men out there that anyone is even talking to him!!

And consider this... Had we taken our chances on GF day and kicked one more goal, would we even be devoting our time to chasing Spida??? I seriously doubt it...

Hi reigning P ... how the hell are ya?
Even if we won, they'd still be chasing Spida.

I seriously think we would have seeing as we chased him last year too!

Saints are an interesting case. You'd think that they'd be a bit wary of trading for him without a senior coach in place to let his feelings known. But maybe if they've already decided that Lyon or Horse will be their next coach, they figure that the new top bloke will be OK with having him at the club.

If the Saints really want him and are prepared to give pick 27, I'd say let them have him. Our second round pick is the most I reckon we should be giving up, unless the Hawks are interested in Erickson, Willoughby or someone of that ilk as a "sweetener" (which I doubt they'd value much). They probably want to get an up-and-coming fringe player that Carlton might be interested in so they can package him up with their 24th pick in return for Thornton.
