Yup, the last two weren't traded for exactly, but still excellent mature recruits the Swans have obtained in the past decade.

I reckon our trading has been okay over the past decade. We picked up some pretty decent ones in the 1980s too!

Didn't take them long to lob his photo up on the Swans website. You'd think that maybe they could find a picture of him without a black eye though!

At least they didn't try to photoshop him into a Swans guernsey for the pic...

You'd think Jolly would be the better defensive option of the three...

Maybe there isn't a photo of him without a black eye? There must be time when everyone from friends and rels to his team mates have wanted to hit Spida - 20 million of us so it's a permanent feature.

It has occurred to me that he'll need special guernseys - do you reckon there's a Swans seamstress beavering away right now? With their gameday wardrobe malfunctions, the detail of carrying spares must be a nightmare - sending Spida out in a spare Monty top just ain't going to work.

just had a look at his stats...several club best and fairests 3 times all Australian (including 2005) and leading goalkicker in 2000 (saints). I can distinctly remember spida killing us in the forward fifty several times. we didn't always lose but he often made a huge difference. you would have to assume that the team is thinking of using three ruckmen. don't forget that the last time we had three proper ruckmen we played them all (round 1 2005) when Jolly was best on ground and Donkey got a couple of goals before doing his knee and we won by 63 points. (all from memeory so don't crucify me). So remember we had just recruited Jolly (to get three proper ruckmen) we tried to get Spida last year so i strongly suspect that Roos would in fact PREFER a 3 tall ruck types team as long as at least 2 can be genuiune forwards (that rnd 1 2005 team had Ball who at that time could still be a part time forward....his field and general kicking went off horribly during the season, though).

Port tried to play lade, brogan and Primus all at once and failed...but then they don't have the team ethos of the Swans or the brains to put it together
"I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005

Stats comparison of Jolly/Everitt/Doyle as well as the 2 ruckmen to make 2006 AA (Lade/Cox).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Using that comparison, change the year to 2005, leave everything else. If Spida had got his wish last year and played with the Swans in 2006, I feel his stats would be more comparable to that (2005) rather than 2006 with the Hawks, having to play where he really didn't want to be. Doesn't say much for his professionalism, granted, if that were the case. I also believe it made his decision to have the op when he did easier. His stats for 2006, for someone going through the motions rather than have his heart and soul in it, are still good.

It's a bit unfair to lump Doyle in with the other 4.

The others have played their best footy (not to say there isn't more in front of them), while Doyle's is most definately in front of him.

Must admit that it looks better than seeing him in any other team's colours - let's just hope he doesn't "hurt" us from here on in.

Can't say I have ever disliked Spida, I know his history, but I always enjoyed watching him play or seeing him on TV, but it's weird the instant 'affection' I have for any footballer once they don the red and the white!

Reminds me of a certain FF I despised up until late 1994
