Here's what I like to think happened.

Two swan-supporting coppers are walking down Southbank, pretty much minding their own business, just happening to be talking about the granny. They see this guy, who's obviously smashed, weaving his way towards them.

Careful Annie. We should remember that not all of our Swannies are complete angels either.

It's only a matter of time before one of them gets into trouble for doing something similar. Some of the swans may be just lucky that they still have relative anonymity in a place like Sydney.

Many of the Swans can still go out in Sydney and not be recognised and this may be their saving grace on occasions.

You're right, of course ... especially now that Spida is amongst our ranks.

I really do believe it was just a couple of coppers being smart.

I've been smashed plenty of times in Melbourne and the coppers have been nothing but helpful (to a poor old lost, @@@@@@ Sydney girl).

Do the police in Melbourne regularly pick people up and put them in a drunk tank if they've done nothing but just "be drunk"? I don't know, I don't live in Melbourne.

It was only when i got older that i realised that i did not.

Amazing how you become less knowledgable the older you get, must be Altzheimers

It's amazing that when I was 17 my parents knew nothing, but I was staggered by how much they learnt over the next few years...

The difference is that i have an older brother and sister and both my parents and I see first hand the effects of alcohol on them. However, neither of them.. nor any of their friends have ever ended up in a cell.

Who knows if Ben Cousins was 'targetted' because he's Ben Cousins.. but the way i see it, the way he was acting must have been pretty extreme for him to land himself in a cell for a few hours.

Layby's first comment to me was bascially not to comment on it seeing i wasn't old enough to know what i was talking about. As a 17 year in today's world, on this issue, i feel i definately know what i'm talking about.

That's the problem - you haven't seen it at all. A friend of mine was walking home very late one night and the police picked him up simply because it was late and he was out. It does happen - it doesn't necessarily require the person to be doing anything.

I'm presuming here, but what I think Layby is saying that until YOU PERSONALLY go out and get @@@@-faced (rather than your older brothers and sisters) and see what it's like to be actually @@@@-faced (and suffering the consequences thereof), everything you say on the subject could just possibly be classed as heresay.

PS: You're underage. I'm not suggesting in any way, shape or form that you go out and get drunk, nor am I condoning it if you do.
