Not the Ch10 I was watching. They kept showing the initial shrugging off but stopped short of the "king hit". Maybe the coverage here in the west was just bad?Comment

Ok Guys... calm down..
Barry Hall's act tonight was down right stupid, absolutely not necessary, but he did what he did, and lets face it hes gonna get 5-6 weeks no doubt. Notice how the piss-weak eagles didnt stand up to him? apart from a stage show hunter and a weak beau waters - no one picks on Hall, hes is the toughest player in the afl.
Hall is one of my favourite players for sydney, just his strong presence on the ground is awesome, and its a shame because he was getting into top form after post 2007 surgery.
on the flip side, maybe hall should get back into the ring, angelo hyder would set him up a good career start. I think he would dominate..
I Must admit, that left hook was F$#KEN wicked, so quick!! you can clearly see his head turned and looked at staker before he let go with his left arm. -Jeff Fenech take notice mate, thats the sort of thing you have to do against that Thai bloke..Comment

Big Bad Barry Hall
Thought there weren't enough BBBH threads, so here's another.
At least the Big Bad Barry Hall nickname can be used again with impunity.
No more Blind Barry Annie! The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.Comment

That a "team leader" punched another player square in the jaw. How can you or I or anyone defend that?
It was uncalled for and quite rightly fans of this club have a right to upset with one of our "team leaders". I know I think its the lowest act I've seen on the football field in my time watching football. If Hall was the player on the receiving end of the punch everyone on here would be crying Blue Murder and hence therefore, we are correct when we call out Barry Hall for his actions tonight.
Does anyone know the circumstances that may have caused the hit?
What happened happened.
It's done and there will be a suspension.
If you want to be negative, you'd say that Hall has let down the team and had a moment lacking restraint.
If you want some positives, you'd say that this will create a bit of fear in his future opponents, that the suspension will be offset by the purported injury, and that over the last 5 years he's been a good boy and a premiership player.
He's @@@@@@ up. and I'm sure he regrets it.
It should well appease those who are seeking a 'bit of mongrel' as has been posted a million times in the past. The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

In the end however, I doubt they'll have much impact on the verdict.
Would have been great if he made it back onto the ground, but at least there seems to be no resulting injury. The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

It was in the heat of the moment.
A 'dog act' might be a more appropriate description for a king hit that was premeditated and purposefully applied in a surprisal way.The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

I'd expect this level of hysteria from fans of other clubs, but FFS everybody here has hung him out to dry for a smack in the gob, albeit a bloody good one.
He's messed up, he'll pay the penalty, he's let the team down.....all those things, but considering how he's been treated by the scumps over the past few years I'm amazed he kept his cool this long.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

Yep I think it will actually help promote the game in Sydney lol The media here including talk back will probably love it and most will take pot shots at the AFL for any suspension.Comment

It is not a mitigating circumstance, and not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but the fact that Staker was infringing Hall continuously while the umpire watched on and ignored it is what started this. My theory is that Hall did it because he wanted to send a message to the umpire 'if you won't do your job, I will take matters into my own hand' - at least in an instantaneous enraged reactive primal sort of way.
I think the Swans should at use this opportunity to put some heat on the AFL by issuing a please explain as to why the umpire was watching Hall being repeatedly infringed, and was not doing anything. That constitutes bias.He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.Comment

DO THE JOB YOU ARE PAID TO DO UMPIRES. INSTEAD OF SHOWING HATRED FOR SOME PLAYERS.
But still, he should get suspended.Last edited by TheGrimReaper; 13 April 2008, 09:56 AM.Comment

The possibility of that happening in modern football is so remote as to be negiigible. There is no way in the world Staker could expect something like that, particularly when Staker was doing was all defenders do. If a forward flattened one of our defenders or a midfielder flattened one of our taggers for doing the same or worse this site would be up in arms. There is no defence for Hall's action.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
