What happened before that actual incident?
      Me too.

Looked at it heaps and heaps. Staker was holding Hall and he was gettin PO'd coz he wanted to make a lead, tried shoving/punching him off (which didnt look good btw, if he hadve connected, then what?) which didnt work, staker kept holding, then barry with his back turned hit staker with his right arm in a backhanded manner. That again didnt look good but ump let it go. The force of the hit sort of got staker off balance and his hand (inadvertently) caught hall on the neck and that may have been the straw that broke the camels back.

There is a bit that the swans can do at the tribunal, but IMO hall was coppin nothing that any half decent forward 50+ gamer would.

Remember if you want a look at it w/out relying on YouTube, its here till filefront deletes it

Hall was being guarded by a 3rd rate defender - anything Staker was doing really shouldn't have been an issue for him.

You can't go and quote such a small part of a post.
That kind of selective quoting misrepresents what I was saying.
Anyone who wants to see what I meant can go back and have a look.

The kids at Auskick can be told something is wrong over and over, but to actually see it creates a whole new representation of what is actually the wrong thing to do.

Every time there is a stranger danger story on the news, or an MSN bullying story etc, I call in the kids to watch.
I can tell them over and over, but to see someone who has experienced it, rams it home in an effective way.

                    yep.

kids know right and wrong, and they see what Hall did as wrong.

My kids don't see Hall as a role model - they aren't into the footy that much, but they asked "why did he hit like that?"
The ensuing conversation was not about Hall, or footballers at all.
It was about how to control anger and the ramifications of not being able to do so.
Also touched on karma (with the broken bones)

If kids lived their lives vicariously through the actions of role models, then god help us with 10 million little Britney Spears' about to filter through....

That's a very good point. I thought Hall looked close to devestating up until that point and there was no need for any retaliation at all, he was clearly letting his game do the talking.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

We have a winner in "the most stupid post of the year" contest.
How long have you followed AFL for. Hall just got 7 weeks & was very lucky. If you think he should have received less, then I think you should try living in the real world. Also, I found your post quite insulting. The Swans MADE Barry Hall, not the other way around. Admitted, he has only made one blemish, but it was a bloody huge one. He will always be known now as a thug. Even the players have spoken against him. If my post was stupid, then I'm ashamed of the supporters that follow the Swans. As we say to the umpires at the footy, "Use 2 eyes mate - not just one"
2005 will live forever (or until we win another premiership)

Then maybe the club will mean more to him.
