Isn't Pelchen the one who wanted a first round pick for Everitt?

According to the Hawks BF board, Clarkson has said they will not trade pick 16. With the reduced salary demands and no pick 16, I find it hard to see how a trade with Hawthorn will eventuate.

That's BF for you, the Hawks are fully aware that pick 16 (at least) will be required and are prepared to part with it to get ROK.

Otherwise it was pointless even meeting with him to talk about salary packages etc.

What a load of horse manure, BF is.

Oh and it's getting a little more likely that ROK may just have to settle on the Swans deal if he is not prepated to run the gaunlett of the PSD.

Of course take it with a grain of salt, but two separate Hawks posters have posted what Clarkson said, at a meeting with sponsors?

Everything you have posted makes perfect sense to a rational person, but this is Pelchen we're talking about. He can be a very obstinate person when it comes to trades, remember Everitt and Thornton.

It would be ironic if he ended up at Hawthorn but for less pay!

More deserved than ironic. ROK would be a walking advertisement for the dangers of believing the hubris of "managers". He would have negotiated a better pay deal himself than the arse clown he has spruiking for him. Who no doubt will take a sizable cut of the diminshing cake.

I look at it the other way, whether you like him or not Pelchen is very straight down the middle when it comes to dealing.

He set's down what he wants and then stays with that, hence why the deals were not done for Everitt and Thornton when the other clubs were not prepared to match what he wanted.

Flip that over to the ROK situation and he knows what Sydney wants as he has sat in front of us and asked what it will take to get him.

If he has no intention of giving up at least pick 16 then he would not have even talked to ROK and his manager. It is the way he does business.

People need to understand when making sweeping observations on boards like BF that the way people conduct themselves in certain situations can be used to get an understanding when the situation is reversed.

It may well end up that ROK does not get to Hawthorn but it won't be becuase they won't offer pick 16, it will be because they can't accomodate his salary.

If the deal mooted on ten news melb goes the Swans have lost me. ROK
to Hawks for 16 and then 16 to Melb for Brad Green. Since when is BG the = of ROK. The Swans incl Maxfield need to be replaced. We would be better off taking 16 ourselves and going for a youngun.

It seems the only thing holding this back is the money. If he does go there for same or less money, he will have a very strong chnace to win the next GF. Something that the Swans are less likely to do.

I'm sadly thinking this could be the case. We would be better adding another player and trying to get a higher pick.

I can see this deal happening. 16 for Green or Lovett. Anyone who will only be able to give us a few years.

Just remember guys the Hawks really looked after us when Everitt wanted to come didn't they?

So why would we just accept pick 16? Thanks very much for holding Everitt back 1 year - now take this!!!

SEN were also reporting the Green > O'Keefe > Pick 16 three-way deal.

....bugger it, lets take Brad Green!

Being out of the fishbowl, and some good heads around him, and god knows he can kick straight when he is on a roll. I'm in, what is he....28? If we were going to play ROK as a HF more so, then beauty. Its like trading the arrogance out of ROK, getting a better kick, and a clubman all in one....probably cheaper as well.

PS. Scott, Liz....please allow a post for cranky write-offs allowance once ROK is gone so we can vent our spleens and move on

No, actually that's exactly what he's not - tried to play hard ball with Swans in 2006 and was made to look like a total goose when he collapsed at the final moment. The Swans recruiting team will have his measure.

Frankly, I think this pay ruse is a sham - the only person who appears to have mentioned the $600K figure is Pelchen. They'll do a deal with 16 and pay ROK a fair sum - and Pelchen will be able to feel "special" for another week.
