"Have fun for the next 4 season with the attitude that we are no chance."

There is nowhere in that post Uglyduckling that I say we are no chance for the next 4 years. Read it again and I say Carlton are a chance for the '4', but I cant recall where I said we are no hope for the next 4 years. Have another proper read of what I posted.

"While your watching the game thinking about how crap we are and how far we are from a premiership being a 'realist' I will be looking at the positives having faith that the boys can improve and hoping that we win."

Do you honestly think I go out there and hope we Lose or something??? Of course I hope we win, and of course I believe that we will improve, but if you can't see that we have a lot of work before we are genuinely challenging for the flag again, then you need to take your blinkers off. You never konw, we could strike it lucky and have a brilliant run that leads to a flag, but in 9999/10000 cases, with our list at its current stage or development/maturity/redevelopment whatever you want to call it, it is not going to happen. That is not necessarily me being ultranegative (Cause I usually am far from that), but is fairly close to the 'truth' of the matter.

"I do honestly believe that we can improve from last year, with Goodes back in the midfield and now McVeigh really proving himself to be a good player and who knows he may improve enough to be a brownlow contender. "

Did I ever say I dont think that we can improve? I never said we are going to go backwards and come last and tank for the next 4 years. I said in fact I think we can have another good season and get to the 2nd week of the finals/even a prelim. I totally agree that I think we can do much better. I have doubts over Goodes, but I have every belief he will come good and McVeigh has stepped up another level. Brownlow contender maybe, but he will need to take another big leap up from this year. He has gone from a bit part player to a very important cog in the midfield of our team, but now he has to dominate games consistently (Like he did a couple of times this year). Then he will be a contender.

I believe that we are always a chance and i will enjoy next season lookig at the positives while you can write infinite posts about how crap we are and write the next 4 years off.

As Per above. I never said that I thought we arent always a chance, its a game played by 2 teams after all, and I dont write infinite posts about how crap we are- How about doing a search of previous posts over the last couple of years and you'll soon see that is far from the case. I simply stated that I dont think with the current list we are good enough to challenge for the flag and that cousins is not the solution. I.e you just have to look at Hawthorn this year and to an extent Geelong last year... they didnt go out and buy 1 potenitally over the hill player and it made it all better and made them from a middle of the eight team to premiers. Neither did we when we won the flag. To win an AFL, more times then not it takes a lot of work and effort to build a squad capable of challenging. We did that and we won a flag, and the game has moved on from our style and our list largely is unchanged at the current time. As our list is reshaped and redevelops over the next 2 or 3 years, then we may soon find ourselves in with another shot at a flag.

I never said we will be crap for the next 4 years, I never said I didnt think we would improve. If you are going to comment on what I say that is fine, as we all have our valid opinions but how about you actually comment on what I say rather then what you think I said!

Are the Melbourne supporters who believe that their team has no chance of winning a flag in the next few years considered to be not true supporters?

If the Swans have completed Due Diligence on Cousins, I would welcome him with open arms. I think he would make a huge difference to our side for 2-3 years.

              Myth.

The last time he played, he ripped his hamstring to shreds. I reckon his body won't be able to cope with the rigours of AFL any longer (at his peak levels). He may have a "big engine", but his chassis is starting to rust.

A fully fit and firing Ben Cousins would be amazing for us.

His addiction and ability for his body and mind to stand up to the rigours of AFL are the issue, but that is all part of the due diligence required. If he passes that (whatever that is), then he has to be worth taking for free in the PSD.

worth the punt and will be a star again if he is permitted..I don't see any other "stars" joining when some of our best have left (schneiderman) and some are getting punted like Davis whilst the Rhino wants out. Not much future there

Its the "fuel" that was put in to the engine that is is the issue. Will he have his legendary stamina? Have a look at the last quarter in 2006. He was like the Energizer Bunny. To mix the metaphors he is a rat and we shouldn't have him in any way associated with our great club.

His stamina is 'legendary' because it's been evident for over ten years!

The only thing ?vident"about Cousins is that he was addicted to amphetamines. And one day the whole story will be told.

Or as Cardinal Wolsey said in Man For All Seasons You're a constant regret to me, Thomas. If you could just see facts flat-on, without that horrible moral squint...

Why would anyone want a grub like Cousins at the club?

Nearly two years out of the game, with a dodgy hammy, and at his age, i just cant really see him making an impact.

He will be a shadow of his former self now that his reward cycle has been broken anyway (train, play his guts out, get high. repeat). For all we know there never was a superstar named Ben Cousins, just a druggie who we all thought was as superstar. Take away the drugs and you take away what made him a star.

If the siren sounds in Tasmania, and the umpires don't hear it, does it make a sound?

Gee ROK you sound like an expert on dogs. Yes I agree dogs do return to their own vomit, but why is it they don't stand in their own turds even at night, yet when I put the bins out at night I invariably stand in one.
