Tadhg reportedly influenced young Coney to sign on. I was confused when Coney reneged on his commitment, but it seems a bit clearer now.

I loved watching Tadhg play, and wish him all the best in the future. But I am most unimpressed that he has walked out on a contract and in the process may have influenced another to do the same.

There are a couple of young players who showed their ability to stand up under pressure in the ressies grand final and potentially could have been long term players. This year they will be playing park footy. If Tadhg had retired in September and Coney had not wasted our time those guys or a couple of other young kids would be on our list.

If 2005 thinks we are winners, I would hate to see his definition of a loser.

Fair call. Maybe a bit OTT. But he can get injured there as well as here and the way he has decided to leave is unforgiveable. Had he called it quits in prior to either of the drafts and left us some options, well a different story altogether.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for sticking it out as long as you did.

Watching your transition from a very young Gaelic footballer to an exciting, confident Rules footballer has been one of my biggest enjoyments as a Swan supporter.

Although it is unfortunate that your decision to leave now is probably not best for the club, I believe it would have been a tough time for you to come to that decision.

If you happen to log on to RWO, please, ignore the rants of the couch potato's that infest it's forums. There will be plenty of nice potato's when you return home.

I don't see anything untoward. Kennelly is retiring to do what he always said he wanted to do, which was win a GAA flag while he's still able. He's actually walking away from a lot of money and a professional career.

The cost to the Swans is limited. We don't have the use of a effecitvely an average player for one season. He could have retired at the end of 08, but spent the off-season trying to get fit for 09.

Any coaching team would take the same decision - it's a much better bet trying to get one of your class players back to full fitness than chopping him from the list in order to punt on a rookie.

Fossie summed it up best (and reflecting the coach's own philosophy): It's just a sport - there are bigger things.

Well Fossie is from Adelaide and we can forgive him such whimsy. Its not just a bloody sport. Its a business and they are professional footballers who sign and are bound by contracts. If its just a sport give back the 300,000 a year you trousered irish. Colless and co have singlehandedly reversed two centuries of irish immigration and the gaelic diaspora. The paddys are all going home. Away from us. Seriously this situation is an indictment on weak management and a wretched administration. But don't worry us the mugs will still roll up when they gouge us with shoddy marketing ploys in the middle of a depression. Colless should emigrate back to Perth.

Of give over FFS - you've done nothing but whinge on here for the past few weeks about the Irish and the 2 'contracts'

There have only been 3-4 serious players that have come over from Ireland sice 1984, Jim Stynes, Kennelly, Setanta and Marty Clarke. No one else has really made it.

Seriously - if the Sydney Swans (or indeed Aussie Rules Football) are reliant on whether or not a bare minimum of Irish imports ever make it in the game, then you all might as well give up - the game of AFL is obviously @@@@@@.

It's a fantastic sport that has huge potential and 1 or 21 Irish lads heading home is not going to change that.
