Hill not needed. TDL, Ben McG are superior.

Can always do with another outside mid but don't see any on offer unless NSW boy Armstrong falls out of the Crows nest.

Aparently Bevo has attracted little interest which is good as I reckon he was playing career best footy late in the season and unlucky to be dropped for that final - it cost us the win!

It may surprise you to learn we don't always see eye to eye 707, but on this subject we do. He wuz robbed! and I do NOT want him to leave us.

Has anyone noticed that a few names have not been thrown around? Like Meredith? Smith? Have we accepted that they are good players and it hasn't occurred to us that they may be shopped? Merry came in with Vez.

Ah Primmy, I hadn't noticed that we disagree, I'll keep an eye on your future posts to see what we disgree about :-) Love to catch up at a game when I'm next in Sydney, can I get a date with you?

I unfortunately don't get to see the ressies like you do, nor get to many games, so it can be difficult to make accurate judgements on players off the TV replays. When it comes to trade week, almost every player is available for trade if the price is right, it's just that some players are more valuable to us than what other teams are willing to give for them.

Of the two players you mention, I reckon Smith has the potential to become a very good offensive midfielder for us but would not be rated by other teams.

I'm still sitting on the fence with Meredith, I believe he is highly regarded by the coaching staff, looks a smooth mover and I desperately want him to have a breakout year but I'm unconvinced on his potential and it wouldn't surprise me to see him overtaken in the pecking order by others in 2011.

I have a feeling that Nick Smith would be very much part of Swans plans..he played ( i think) 16 or so games this year and will increasingly move forward. A very good blanketer and still drives the team forward.

Why would anyone mention Smith as someone we may shop around?

Don't get me wrong, I lurve both of them. I have been smuggly smiling about ticking their "keeper" box for a couple of years now. I was just intrigued that everyone else in this forum have also unquestioningly accepted their "keeper" status too.

707, would love to catch up with you. Date status - fair warning needs to be issued. Wardy calls me Mum.....not sure I am thrilled, but I worked out I could be Hanners grandmother if I had been fairly enterprising.......

What about Wodjinski? According to afl.com via 'The Age' he is out of contract and has asked to be traded. Would fit the requirement of pacy midfielder.

A year or two ago I might have said yes to Woj - now it's a resounding no - we don't need his pace now and his disposal is still dodgy. plus he's getting on - we should be able to put enough faith in our young brigade

Sounds like there is something very wrong down Geelong way.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

He'd be great to have IMO, very quick, doubt it will happen though we dont have alot to bargain with since we seem to be putting everything into trying to get the overrated sherman.

Hasn't the weekend been quiet. I assume something has been happening that the public have not been made privy to.

I'm guessing that we will eventually pass on Sherman. I wonder what Plan B is?

I hope "nothing stupid" is our plan b. In the last part of the season we were forced to keep players out that I felt deserved a game, and that was while we had first 22 guys like LRT still injured. Round 1 next year when everyone's healthy there will be several deserving guys who probably won't get a game like Rohan, Reid, Johnston etc. We have enough depth in this team and no major holes that we don't need to do something stupid or desperate just because we don't get Sherman. Give our young players a chance to build on this years growth instead of bringing in guys with lower ceilings that keep our promising players out of the team.
