The Veszpremi situation is disappointing. I still think foot skills are a major concern for us and Paddy is one of the few players on the list who can hit a target and score goals from outside 50.

It'll be fine. Everitt will strive in the red and white!
Like some have said, Vez just never found his feet and theres doubt to weather he can become a very good player. I'm sure he'll do well at the Bulldogs but won't be an absolute standout. I've got more hope for Everitt, the club has followed him for a few years and must be confident in what they have seen. His form in the VFL has been solid but not sure why he wasn't given more game time.
Fantasia said he would play 22 games next year but I know that's complete bull@@@@, just trying to talk up his value.
We should be happy with this trade. My Man Mumford!Comment

I wouldn't be surprised if we offered 21 for Sherman, we've shown in the past we're prepared to pay overs for players in order to get the deal done and not mess about. The sticking point obviously is convincing Sherman to come to Sydney instead of Melbourne.Comment

I always thought Everitt had good potential when he started with the Dogs. He could be one of those players we pick up and turn into something special. Hope we get him.
I'm pretty keen on Sherman as well - he's another that might thrive in a different environment.
Too bad about Vez and Bevan if they both go. I was away when we played finals but when watching the replays, I couldn't help thinking the result against the Bulldogs may have been different sans team changes.Comment

Bas wrote "Patty was a first round pick in the 2007 draft - pick 11. Unfortunately not many in Melbourne have any first round picks to give up for him. A second or third round pick would be useless to the Swans. "
The implication to me was that Patty should fetch a first rounder because he was a first rounder himself. I don't think I have misconstrued the meaning of his post.In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.Comment

I agree with you and it is frustrating to let him go. Even more so when you see who we are keeping in Red and White. It is easy to be critical of a player as to why they should not be in the top 22.(no engine etc) You have to weigh up the reasons why they should be given a go against why they should not. By any reasonable assessment,Vez has not been given a fair go at the Swans and I can understand him leaving. So the player we got instead of Rioli is replaced by Everitt, a player who we don't have a position for. I am not liking this at all .i have a horrible feeling this will come back to bite us.Comment

Hutchy saying on Trade Week Radio it will be a straight swap Everitt for Veszpremi, could be one of the first deals completed.Comment

very sad to see Veszpremi go if it eventuates (which it looks like it will).
His enthusiasm and early games (4 goals against Brisbane with 2 brownlow votes) had him high up on my favourites.
Only thing that makes this less sad is that it seems to have been a long time coming given reports over the year, so hardly a shock.
Not sure what Everitt gives us or what his upside is, haven't thought much of him but here's to being proven wrong!!!Comment
