The Swans should be making a move to get a few of these picks now.

GWS as now traded their pick this year with Fremantle, which can use the original on-traded pick which Fremantle had, in the next 5 years.

    Still laughing?
Have the potential yes but have nothing yet. Big call to start talking about them dominating us in 5 years time.

FYI, As for laughing the 'haha' wasn't having a go at them (not that it would matter on a Swans board if I was), I just find the potential of how many stars they may well have if it works to plan across every pick (rarely does) to recontract in two years time staggering and likely to be unmanageable unless they are able to do a Geelong and recontract under market value.

Who would you be giving up to get Top 20 picks to the Swans?

Whatever Seaby's merits, he had the misfortune to land at clubs with Cox, Natanui and Mumford and then got sideswiped by the subs rule. He's a handy first ruck and would be a good one for Port. Seems though the deal could part of a three-way between Sydney, Port and Adelaide.

Tommy Walsh would be a great pickup but unlikely given the number of clubs chasing him.
The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible news

Really meant nothing! I'll be more careful in future re: GWS on this board though! Lesson learnt.

Fair point. I don't watch the Reserves as a general rule, so I can't comment on his performance in those games.

It's not really a GWS thing, just a bizarre thing to say about any club, as if it's funny that they have a @@@@load of good players and they should have avoided being so good.

It's like telling a side about to win their 5th flag in a row "You only have a trophy shelf big enough to hold 4 cups... sucked in losers hahaha". I mean, wtf?

Huh? I said it's going to be hard to manage if they all turn to stars. Didn't say not do it, they have a stunning amount of picks, good on them but if they all turn into superstars, it's going to be interesting.

I don't really get the drama with what I said, but anyway.

Pretty nice position to be in if you ask me. If the culture is good and they are close to a flag then a lot of them will stay on for less money. As you said it'll be interesting to see how many do become stars.

Is it a certainty that Sumner wants out? Considering his trade value, and his salary value, surely re-signing him on a minimum and giving him a little more time to recover from his grief wouldn't be a bad option as I rated him. Quick, good disposal, all those things we are missing.

Wow, we're getting a tad tetchy about GWS on here! I read Damien's post and took it entirely as "nice problem to have!".
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Thanks for picking that up!, I'm a bit confused at the reaction. Probably best for me just to move on!!!!

Damien, I was't offended at all. I was just pointing out a "light globe" moment I had when I looked at all of those picks this morning.

If you look at the GC Suns, they won't have to wait 5 years to be superior over the Lions. The Lions recruiting hasn't helped that either.

However, the Swans top up a little each year. Goodesy being our best will start getting injured more often as he gets older and there really is the possibility that as GWS has it's players mature, not forgetting they can recruit a few more uncontracted players next year, the team will become potentially stronger than the Swans. Sure Swans have many players that will improve but do we as fans have a distorted view on how good they are and how much they will improve in comparison with the rest of the competition.

I still don't think it will eat into the Swans base as those of us that follow the Swans and GWS will not change.

I'm surprised that GWS hasn't traded some of those picks for better players this year so they can be more competitive in the next two years. Don't understand that strategy unless the first 25 players of this years draft have potential elite status.

Should have thrown in a but it's such a "girlie" thing to add to the end of a blokes message.
