Tippett!!

As much Watters loves TDL and I don't doubt your word, it still doesn't make sense from a list management point of view to bring in a particular type of player in which they are relatively strong in, especially when they have more pressing needs to cover, namely a key defender and probably another ruckman.Comment

To Summarise things so far. - If Rucci's mail is right then Trigg (AFC CEO) has kiboshed the deal after it was agreed and was ready to lodge, and Trigg is now dealing directly with Andrew Ireland. (Which would indicate it is financial rather than recruiting) And if the salary stuff is right then the Swans would have to find White's salary for next year from under it's cap to pay Adelaide. So the question is, how much does Jesse earn and would there be room to fit Tippett in? (Maybe they could renegotiate the structure of the Tippett contract to accommodate things. And if Brisbane is interested in White as Adelaide believe, would this make them grab White before Brisbane or would they be hoping the lions would send a draft choice to the Swans to be on-traded. I suspect Brisbane would only give a 3rd rounder at best which I'm not sure would satisfy the Crows any more than the recruiting of White himself. The Swans have to make sure that if he is traded to Brisbane that the pick will help the Tippett deal. At present it looks as though Adelaide may take Jesse as part of a deal, but may not be interested in pick 53. (If we could snag pick 33 that would clinch the deal.)
I'm not totally dismissive of the notion that maybe everybody's assumption that we have been offering our first pick may be flawed. Maybe we have been trying to force them to take our second round pick. Noble's throw away line about a coach suddenly deciding to put a first rounder on the table seems odd since Tippett has indicated that he will only go to the Swans and no-one else except GWS has mentioned him, except to say they're not interested.
(Matthew Lloyd has suggested Carlton should clear out a half a million dollar player and just take Tippett in the PSD whether he likes it or not. Plus they must have some bickies in the bank if they were interested in Cloke)Last edited by The Big Cat; 23 October 2012, 04:42 PM.Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

Not sure whether you classify Porplyzia as a small forward but I don't think TDL is anywhere near as good as him, even considering Porplyzia had a so-so year (played two very good finals).Bloods

All I can say is yes I would like Tippett, no to paying White's salary at Adelaide as it sound as if that would inflame the col allowance further which makes me think that is why Trigg suggested it. Still think if Adelaide won't deal then regardless of Damien Barrett's comments Sydney will get him in the psd for nothing, just depends if Adelaide or Sydney are prepared to gamble. We won a grand final without him and with improvement to Reid and if we still have White and improvement to Morton we can win another. Having said all that I would love to see a forward line of Reid, Tippett, Rohan, Goodes, Morton plus our great mids plus Jetta plus our defence.Comment

Simple solution for Crows - just trade him for our first pick and leave Jesse with us. Done deal.
Lloyd, now there is a rocket scientist in the making. An exercise in getting people to talk about him.Nothing like a good light bulb moment.Comment

Porplyzia had one good year. Other than that he has been below average. Petrenko is a spud

Tippett aside, it would be great if there is a team out there where TDL could get more senior game time.
At the Swans he is competing with McGlynn, Morton and Lamb for a spot in the forward line and you would have to say that Mcglynn and Morton are ahead of him. St. Kilda with a coach who knows his game could be just the place but he could face the same problem there, as mentioned already. Even so, a new challenge would be better for him than another year in the Swans' ressies. He should be worth a 2nd round pick?Comment

He had two ripper finals, almost BOG against Freo and strong against Hawthorn.
The true measure of his worth is Nick Smiff went to him in the QF (where he barely got a touch), so Longmire must have seen him as some sort of danger, the Smooch don't bother smothering nobodies...Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

That said, he could make a go of it at another club. I'd have thought a move back home was a chance with Freo. If they want to give Ballantyne *spit* more time in the midfield, a spot in their tall forward line could open up....Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment
